Surprisingly, for an older home, we have a ton of storage space! We have 2 attic spaces (finished for storage), a garage with lots of space above, and a work bench space with storage next to it, a room in the basement with built in shelves, lots of closet space and linen closet space in addition to regular cabinet space.

Yes! We have a walk in closet in every bedroom, including his an hers in our room. We have walk in closets in both hallways, a wall of cabinets in one hallway, and lots of cabinets in the laundry room. We have a linen closet and a coat closet and our pantry is walk in. We also have an attic, but nothing is up there yet because we have so many closets.

I guess so... but i only say that because right now it' just me and my husband with not so much stuff (my hubs hates hoarding and will throw things out if we dont use it - rather than storing it away). we do have attic storage space but we dont like going up there so we try not to store too much up there. we have a ton of closets and most are currently unused.... but again, it's just the two of us in a 4500 sq ft house, so let's see how i respond in a year when we have the baby and a ton of baby stuff to store away!

I think so, but I want to re-do our walk-in closet in the master bedroom. There is so much wasted space.

Yes, a ton! The previous owner built a lot of custom cabinets.

Noooo. For such a large house (in my opinion) we do not have a lot of storage space. we have one linen closet which is SMALL. There is a space under the stairs in the basement and that's pretty much it. I have been working my butt off to try and make our limited storage as functional as possible. I've put up two rows of shelves in the laundry room and another on the opposite side of the room with cabinets.
I feel like cookie cutter houses all were built with such wasted space in them. HUMPH.

No! Our house was built in 1940, so our closets are all teeny tiny. We do have a lot of storage space in the basement, but it doesn't take the place of a nice walk in closet or a big linen closet.

Yes, right now the unfinished basement is our storage. But once we finish it, it will still have a huge storage room.

We have a one story house, an older home about 50 years old with practically no storage. We renovated our garage to include cabinets for storage. I love it!

We do in our current house, it has a basement and attic. Although, the attic had a bee infestation and the basement had house centipedes (ew ew ew) so we have never used either for storage despite having pest control.
Our new house has a small attic and a small two car garage but we really need to get rid of a lot of junk.

Yes, tons!! The builder really put a lot of thoughts into every detail, including storage space.
We have a huge unfinished basement, his/her walk-in closets in our master suite (plus large linen closet in the master bath), large closets in each of the other bedrooms, linen closets in the hallway and guest bath, and a walk-in pantry off the kitchen. The garage is also oversized so we can store our snowblower, lawnmower, etc. in there along with our cars.

@Bao: Our apartment has absolutely no storage space. We have one little closet by the front door that is packed with baby clothing, gear, etc. I have to, literally, push against the door to shut it. And, that is our ONLY storage space. It really sucks.

I plan to use our garage for future parties for our LO as our house is small and narrow (1800 sq feet).

Nope!! It's our biggest complaint right now - the lack of storage. If we had more storage, we'd be totally okay staying at our current home. We don't even have a "master bedroom closet" shoo. sigh....

For a 2 bedroom apartment, it has a good amount of space! There are two closets in the hallway plus two huge ones in each bedroom!

A reasonable amount, we think, but given that we live in a Manhattan apartment, what we consider to be a lot of storage is probably the equivalent to a matchbox for people with lovely big houses in the 'burbs. @vanillabean:'s garage would be a high-priced rental apartment here!
