DS had a brown one right next to his butt crack. He also has two Mongolian spots. One on the side of his bum and one on his shin.

both charlie and olive have mongolian spots, but charlie's is very faint. it looks like a couple small bruises. i wonder if olive got more asian genes because hers is more prominent and she looks more asian?
olive also has a small, light brown birthmark on her torso. it's cute!

She has a little brown birthmark on her ribs and a little dot on her ear that is more of a dent but it looks like a birthmark. She had more when she was born but those are the most prominent.

Yup, she has a red birthmark on her upper, inner thigh. I love it.

What's funny is the one near his butt crack, I kept thinking it was poo. Every time i'd change his diaper when it first showed up, I'd always try to wipe that spot to see if it would come off.

DD has a small red dot on her back/butt area...no clue if it is a birthmark or not though! going to ask her pedi what it is exactly...

Yes, she has a blackish blue mark on her back.

She does - it's a red mark about the size of a quarter on the back of her neck, right at her hairline. Her hair mostly covers it now.

Both my kids have huge mongolian spots! Wagon Jr.'s are all up and down his back and around his ankles. The ankle ones have faded almost completely. LMW's is right around the top of her buttcrack, and that's her only one, but it's huge-- like the size of a teacup saucer. We always have to explain to caregivers and doctors/nurses that they're not bruises!

DD and DS have matching birthmarks. DD's is on the left side of her nose and DS's is on the right side. They also both have stork kisses on the back of their necks.

She has a tiny mole with a cafe au lait spot next to it on her side. I thought they were weird at first, but now I like them.

@mrs. wagon: DS's spot is pretty big on the side of his bum Like teacup size. It's not very dark tho and you can barely notice it. But yeah, I mentioned it to my nanny so she didn't think it was a bruise. We actually thought it was a bruise at first!
@Honeybee: Matching birthmarks, how cute!

DD has the Mongolian spot on her butt, it's faded but still visible. DS has one on the butt that goes halfway up his back. I didn't even think to mention to day care but I think they've seen enough Asian babies to know what it is.

@Honeybee: So cute that they match!!
DS has a storkbite on the nap of his neck. I've read that they have a chance of disappearing after a year or so...anyone experienced that? I like his and hope it stays!

LO has a mongolian spot on the top of her butt crack! I loves it. She also has a birthmark (that looks blueish?) above her right ankle.

DS has a strawberry patch on the base of his skull. It is really cute.

I really don't know.
At LO's very first appointment, I told my pediatrician he has a birthmark (blueish looking bruise on this arm) and he said that it is a bruise from childbirth and that it will go away.
LO is 5 months old and it hasn't gone away. I'm assuming it is a birthmark.

@TurtleDoves: Could it be a mongolian spot? They look like bruises. They do go away as they get older.

yeah, she has a smallish hemangioma on her forehead, a teeny one on her leg and a nickel sized one on her chest...I'm hoping they shrink! at least the one on her chest.

@mrskc: @lolabee: one of my sisters and I have matching birthmarks, too! I kinda think some birthmarks might be genetic?

DS has one on his butt cheek. It is so cute! He also has two strawberry hemangiomas, one on his shoulder and one on his back. They're slowly fading. The one on his shoulder is almost gone.

@Sweet T: i hope this isn't too nosy - are his raised "mild" hemangiomas? my LO has one that's fairly large-ish next to her nipple and I'm wondering how long it'll take to fade. I'm so sick of people asking about it, as well as the one on her head - I get "will that fall off? no girl wants that!" so often the ped said they usually fade but not sure if she meant color or the entire thing?

@sorrycharlie: FWIW, I had a big one on my shoulder that was gone before I turned two

He has a red birthmark on the back of his head, right by his bald spot! It's not big or dark, and once his hair grows in it should be covered.

LO has an angel kiss on her right eyelid. It's started fading so she won't have it for much longer.

My DS has one that use to look exactly like the number one, then as he got a little older it turned into a two. It is so weird! He'll be eleven next month and still has the number two on his shoulder blade!
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
@Mrs. Champagne: thank you!! so did the color disappear and leave a scar? or did the whole thing disappear? i have lots of moles and birthmarks (coffee stains) myself, and one tiny hemangioma in my hair that never went away but I don't have any experience with this bigguns!
eta - hers looks like this, http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSGu1jR23n7yYO2Nk1JJDqPL8-to-s2-0BwpS3j_QnEQZX8AWrK

@sorrycharlie: its totally gone. i didnt even know I ever had it until I saw a picture of me in the bath!!

@sorrycharlie: Not nosy at all! Both of DS's showed up when he was a few weeks old. They were slightly raised. He's 18 months old now. They're both completely flat now and the one on his shoulder is almost completely gone. The one his back hasn't faded as much but it's obviously going away. The parts that are faded completely didn't leave any marks. His kind of looked like this:

He has a very small, very light pink stork bite on one of his eyelids and another round, darker pink, a little bit smaller than dime-sized on his back between his shoulder blades.
