My 3.5 started asking for a guitar randomly. Neither of us play so I'm not worried about it being a "realistic" one. But obviously one that can actually play music! I did see that Hape makes one?
She doesn't typically ask for things, so if it's not too expensive it'll be fun for her to find under the tree!

Got her a yellow plastic one for her birthday that she loves. Her abuelo tried to give her a real (kid sized) guitar the other day and she wasn't having any of it. A cheap one might be good to start with!

LO has the princess guitar - definitely not the one to get if you want something that actually plays or is semi-real.
In addition to "kid-size" 1/2 or 1/4 size guitars would be kid sized, and ukuleles are a good kid size as well

We have a ukulele that I bought in the clearance section of Target. Big hit with my kids and kids who come to play at our house.

@yin: yup! We don't own one, but the real ukelekes a friend has are ALWAYS the star of play dates in that house.

She has a ukelele. She has been talking about a guitar for ages and our local guitar school suggested a ukelele because it's similar and much cheaper than an actual guitar. LO loves it.

Target has one! DS also wanted one for Christmas when he was 3. He loved it and so have my girls!

I have a real one from when I was a kid and played, it's smaller than a full-sized one. If either of my girls want to play it, or my violin, when they're just a little bit older and won't break them, I will let them! So yes, I suppose they do have one.

He is allowed to play with one of my husband's. It's not great quality, and I won it for him at a fair, so if it gets ruined, it won't matter.
