At 5 months, she is attached to nothing except me so far. I have tried introducing her to her Angel Dear but she completely ignores it.

We have a blanket friend from carters (who I have dubbed Ellen the Elephant) I keep one in her crib with her and have the other around all the time for her. She ignored it for so long, now she plays with it in the morning when she wakes up so I have hope.

She has a little lamb blanket thingy, but it's only recently (she's 6 months old) that she has taken an interest and likes to cuddle with it.

She has several lovies, but she doesn't "love" her lovies. She could take them or leave them and they aren't security objects yet.

He has a few but nothing he is attached to - an A&A security blanket and also a little soft blanket that has a Lion head. He mostly just likes to eat and wrestle his lovies.

@JoJoGirl: It's a blankie w/ a stuffed animal head.
She has two but not attached to them.

I try. We have one pink giraffe that she's a little more attached to than the others.

C also has two of them. She sleeps with the one every night, but I don't think she's overly attached to it. It's this one:

@JoJoGirl: Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you asked! I had no idea either - I thought it was just a term used for any item a child had a particular attachment to, whether it was a stuffed animal or a blanket or what!

My LO got this as a gift and LOVES it. I'm amazed by how much babies love tags.
DH's cousin got us one of those fleece loveys with the stuffed bear but it is just too big. This is the right size and i don't feel uncomfortable leaving it in the crib with LO.

If your LO is attached...How important is it to have duplicates? I have gotten a few of these so far (1 more shower Saturday!) but haven't received 2 of the same yet.

@dagret: Get 2!! I had to buy one later so that LO would have one while the other is in the wash.

@caffeinated: I thought that might be the case...right now I have 3 different ones.

DD usually naps hugging her little monkey lovey but I don't let her sleep with it at night - she tends to throw it over her face and leave it there, which I can take care of during the day, but not at night!
I don't think she's particularly attached to this one lovey but she does enjoy cuddling it. We might introduce her to a few other loveys as well so she doesn't get overly attached to just one thing.

DD only got attached to a lovey at age 2 but not for lack of our trying. Getting at least 2 is a good idea. We lost one overseas and thankfully had an extra, and then i bought one more for day care nap time. now the stuffed animal is no longer being made so if we lose it we are in big trouble!

My sister bought us one when we first told her we were expecting. She bought a pink one cause she was sure we were having a girl! It is so cute, hope our girl loves her first present from her aunt.

my LO never took to a lovey. She loves her stuffed animals, but doesn't NEED any one in particular to fall asleep.
Actually. She asks for her mungmung (patrick the pup) when it's sleep time, but ditches him eventually

We have a lovey but he isn't attached. We are afraid to put anything in his crib.

@Adira: is is! a lot of babies just have some sort of animal/blanket combo for a lovey! my lovey growing up was a flat crib sheet... so weird.

He has one, but definitely not attached. He could care less about it.

LO never took to one. We tried giving her a lovey, regular blanket, stuffed animals... but she never took to any one them.

He only recently became obsessed with a stuffed dog he has. He hugs it to go to sleep...so cute.

DD has a "lovey" that we give to her in hopes that she will form an attachment and start learning some self soothing. She does enjoy her lovey, but she doesn't use it for self soothing yet. She loves eating her lovey blanket though...

I've tried with his A&A blankets for 6 months now and no such luck!! But he's not ATTACHED to me so I guess I'm okay with it

She's only attached to me, too! She pulls on my hair and nuzzles into it like it's her lovey

DS is 14.5 months old and doesn't have a lovey. I'm a little torn about trying to introduce one. He only gets his pacifier for naps and bedtime but we're hoping to wean him of it soon. I think a lovey would be perfect but I'm worried that he'll want to play with it instead of sleep.
