At the recommendation of some of you lovely bees, I got DS an Angel Dear horse lovey to help with swaddle weaning. Does your LO have a lovey? What is it?

And is your LO really attached to his/her lovie? I noticed they were sold in 2 and 3 packs in case one has to be washed or gets lost!

yep, the A&A security blanket. we use it for sleep/naps... the last few weeks (10.5 mths) DS has been reaching for it outside of sleep time...but he's not 100% addicted to it (yet) we got a two pack. one for his crib, one for the pnp downstairs.

We have the angel dear puppy. I'm not comfortable putting it in his crib yet, so I give it to him in the car. He mostly chews on it, but I'm hoping eventually he'll use it as a lovie.

They have loveys but they don't care for them!

She has to sleep with a blanket that she curls up with, but at this point any soft blanket will do, it doesn't have to be a specific one.

LO loves stuffed toys - she's got a ton. She loves her angel dear, but I think her favorite is a Jellycat medium sized Bashful Monkey. She is obsessed with it and always picks that to snuggle with over the others. I don't let her have anything at night, but when I do, I'd be more inclined to go with an Angel Dear because they are lighter than other brands. Other than the monkey, which I did get a back-up for) she hasn't really expressed a big enough preference to get back-ups for anything else. I definitely would if another favorite emerged though!

@grizz: YES. Thank goodness it came in a pack of 3...2 are usually dirty from him carting them around.

LO has one that I introduced but he's really not into it. He loves his knitted blanket that our neighbor made for him and snuggles up with it every night. She also made a small piece for him with the same material and I send that along to preschool with him if he seems super tired.

I give her an A&A security blanket every night. I really don't think she cares either way about it. Some nights she ends up on the other end of the crib without it.

J has a minky blanket with satin trim, if he sees it he starts giggling and runs to it we mainly keep it in his crib though, he doesn't carry it around the house very often.
Eta:here's j with his blankey at breakfast, it was an exceptionally difficult wakeup

Just recently, in the last few months, she has developed one. We started putting a Minnie Mouse stuffed animal that DH got her on a trip in her crib just before we started daycare and then sent it with her to daycare when she started. Now she loves to have her Minnie Mouse and her "Neow" (pink jelly cat kitty) with her when she sleeps or when we take a long car ride. She does not bring her jelly cat to daycare, only Minnie.

@grizz: Yes! He has the blue bear and he LOVES it. When it's bed time or nap time he grabs it and falls right asleep. I "tried" giving him a green frog to take to school, and he handed it right back to the teacher. And held out his hand for his blue lovey.

Yes! She actually has 4 . . . 2 of the big version (that she sleeps with at night), and 2 of the small version (that she takes to daycare). She didn't love her lovey right away, but in the past few months--and especially since she started daycare--her loveys have been part of her daily routine. We have the BabyGund Lopsy Lamb, the 24" and the 18" versions.

Yes! Besides my boobs, lol, she loves her Jellycat lovie blanket & has become super attached to her Sophie.

@hilsy85: If he takes to it, I'm definitely going to cut to the chase and buy a three pack to have on hand! I babysat for a friend's little boy whose lovey was in the washer and he was inconsolable. ha! Learned my lesson

sort of. We put one in her crib around 11.5 months, but i don't think she's really attached to it. She's more into her pacis!

She has a stuffed bunny (her #1) and a stuffed lamb that she sleeps with. She didn't love them right away but I started putting them in her crib around 10 months. They only stay in the crib and she is in love with them now. They were very comforting for her during a few separation anxiety phases and also when we travel and she has to sleep somewhere unfamiliar. She's 22 months and hugs them while she sleeps

She's really attached to her Wubbanub and she snuggles on it!

No, I try sooo hard to get her to love on something, but she has not taken to anything yet.

M is 12 months and uses her (gerber prefold) burp cloths as lovies. She was used to having one on her chest while taking a bottle (she's a messy drinker) and then she started sucking her thumb and holding the burp cloth to fall asleep. They're not cute, but at least we have tons of them and can wash them every few days!
She just got her 1 year shots this morning and was screaming and crying in the Dr's office afterwards. I gave her the lovey and she chilled out. Made me love the thing even more

LO has a blue bunny Angel Dear lovey. When getting out of the crib in the morning, he takes it with him all over the condo. I wash it almost every week lately.
My niece uses a flannel burp cloth for her lovey.

E never took to the Angel Dear Lovey (we have the owl), but he loves loves loves his Gentle Giraffe sleep machine doll...which is lame since it will cost so much more to replace than just a normal lovey, lol.

@babyjmama: I love him! Such a cutie pie.
@lovehoneybee: That is so, so precious! E looks like he is the sweetest boy ever.

Wagon Jr. has the angel dear lion, and LMW has the angel dear dalmatian. They are both super attached to them. It was a great separation anxiety tool for Wagon Jr. and we just stopped taking it everywhere with us since he's almost 4. When he was little if he was crying you could hand it to him, and he'd immediately stop and stick his fingers in his mouth. We had four of them but lost 2 (probably at daycare, where a couple other boys have the same lovey... they probably brought them home).
LMW never sucked her fingers, thumb or pacifier, and now she sucks on her blankie. Because of this we have SIX. I have to replace it every single day because it gets NASTY.
They both help with night sleep (if they wake crying, they are fine once they find their blankie and go back to sleep on their own) so I love them too!!

DS's lovey is a Little Giraffe luxe blanket that I bought from the Nordstrom annual sale a year ago. I forgot to take it with us when we went to my parent's house on Saturday and he couldn't nap. I could tell he was looking for it. I felt so bad.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
Nope. I'm a big believer in nothing in the crib but baby so I never give her anything to sleep with. We have an angel dear and some A+A security blankets that I've given her when she's nursing or playing and she has no interest.

J has an Angel Dear dinosaur blanket, which was his first gift in the hospital from our close friends. It's so cute to see him on the monitor when he is holding on to it when he's asleep. I think he likes it (though he's not attached to it in the sense that he would be very upset without it, I think).
grapefruit / 4817 posts
He kind of does. I don't think he'll ever be miserable without it (like if it's in the washer or if I forget it somewhere), but I do keep a Jellycat bear in his crib with him. He loves to chew on him and carries him around all the time, but like I said, he wouldn't fall apart without it.
We were gifted a set of 3 Angel Dear tigers and he's never cared for them. He's always been a bigger fan of full sized stuffed animals.

My son was obsessed with his GloWorm, so much so that we have had three of them. It was just enough to comfort him when he was falling asleep.
He's not using it anymore, it's been about a year now.

DS has three, but they are just for sleeping and travel. He didn't have any lovies until he was about 18 months. He has a teddy bear, AA lovies and AA swaddle blankets.
