Nope even though my husband thinks we should in case ya know we want to hop on a plane overseas tomorrow.

My only concern is do they have to renew after x years? Like M is a baby now....I would think she might have to renew before the 10 years?

Our older one has a passport. We haven't gotten our younger one a passport yet.

@regberadaisy: I think kids renew every 5 years.

@oliviaoblivia: I don't know about from Canada into the US but I know from US into Canada by land I only needed a birth certificate.

We got a passport for LO when he was 9 weeks. Taking his picture was an awful experience because they were so strict about it. He looks like a giant blobby gangster in his pic...it's hilarious.

@regberadaisy: they require passports for US entry now and we usually fly and the airlines are strict.

No, I tried to get one but didn't realize that they needed to take her birth certificate and I only had one copy so I didn't give it to them. We were getting it "just in case" anyway. No plans to travel internationally with the LOs anytime soon.

PS - getting DD to take her passport photo was such a joke. It was an AWFUL photo so I'm glad we didn't get it on that day!

Yup! Two, although his Mexican one expired. Here you have to renew them every year for young kids, what a PITA. But taking the photo for the US passport when he was like 6 weeks old was a hilarious experience. We couldn't get him to wake up and he was like slumping over. Everyone was yelling his name to get him to open his eyes for like one second.

We had to apply for LO's passport at the same time we reported her birth at the US Embassy when she was a week old. It was so hard taking a photo. She also has a Japanese passport, which we got when she was 1 month old. We'll be saving both passports because the both photos are too funny. I burst out laughing every time I look at the passport photos. She's going to hate us for saving them.

@mynoahbear: I thought you had to turn in all old passports when you renew in the US; is that not accurate? I was lucky that the passport agency gave us the first photo that was deemed unusable (DD's head was too titled) but they could have just thrown it away.

@mynoahbear: interesting, my sister just renewed hers and they didn't provide the old one back.

My son has two, for his dual citizenship. He's had them since he was about 3 months old. We did them when we had no travel plans especially so we didn't have to rush.
