Charlie has an innie, but Olive has an outie! I wonder if it will become an innie, and whether how the umbilical cord was cut has any impact.

Mine had an innie. I thought I read somewhere that how the umbilical cord is cut didn't affect it but don't quote me.

My son has an innie and daughter has an outie. She's three months old and her outie doesn't protrude as much as it used to so I'm wondering if it'll slowly become and innie.

@MrBee, I'm not surprised. I think you can get plastic surgery on just about anything nowadays.

My little girl actually has an umbilical hernia which I had never heard about before but I guess it's fairly common. Because of that it's an outie for now but I'm hoping once it heals she might have an innie

@Thehistoryofus - we just found out olive has an umbilical hernia too! I'd never heard of it either. It looks like a huge outie. But evidently it's very common with preemies, and our doctor says it heals by itself in a year and may become an innie.

@mrsbee - our pedi told us he wouldn't do anything about it until she was four or five years old! He said though chances are they go away before then. He showed us how to press it in to make sure it's not getting tangled with any organs.
At 3 months now I can already see improvement so I'm hoping it heals naturally soon!

My daughter has an innie. My grandma said my dad had outie andshe taped an actual silver dollar over it and I guess it went in.

My daughter has an inbetweenie...I swear lol Sometimes it's an innie and sometimes it's an outtie. I don't think she knows what she wants it to be yet

For the first month or so my daughter had quite the outie- and then it popped back in on its own. Weird.
