She's actually pretty good at restaurants. Waiting for the food is usually the big issue. Someone usually has to walk around with her which we wait for the food. Crayons don't keep her attention long enough. But once the food comes, she's good as gold She's a good eater so that keeps her busy for awhile. We actually get a ton of compliments about how well she behaves at restaurants from strangers.

We are out with her this week. As long as I kept my nipple in her mouth we were golden. Try to move since its obviously empty and she's barely even sucking and little lady gets pissed! But she's 4 weeks old.

For the most part yes, C lets us eat out without much trouble. He is an observer though so as long as he gets to watch people he's pretty content. Also, he's big on chips and bread sticks and such so if he has a little something to nibble on that everyone else has as well while we wait for food he's pretty good.

ETA: And we gave up on high chairs and booster seats by 2 years. C would rather sit on a regular chair or booth so we don't push it.

Yes, but we have a routine- boosters don't work for us, so we have to use a highchair. Otherwise he sees a booster as an excuse to escape.

We start with an appetizer of cheerios or animal crackers along with a sippy cup of water.

When he gets done with that I give him my straw and hold my water or iced tea cup for him to dip the straw and transfer to his mouth a million times.

When the food comes, that usually occupies him for some time, he gets a fork, so he can spear food- which takes forever since he isn't very coordinated, buying us time to eat our dinner.

LOL- I can TOTALLY relate though, yesterday I overdid it on some house projects, my husband suggested going out to dinner at one of our favorite breweries. We haven't been to that one in a year with C (he was still in the infant seat at the time) and couldn't remember if we'd ever seen a high chair there. I told him flat out that if they don't have a high chair, then he is on C duty. There was ZERO chance of me chasing him around last night, that I would rather cook than fight the boy. Luckily they had one high chair, and we claimed it- victory!!

DD is wild. I mean like.... running around the restaurant and patting people on the back kind of wild. Asking the strange waitresses to pick her up. Throwing food on the floor. Spilling water in my lap. She can't sit in the high chair for longer than 5 minutes.

Do you have the FP booster seat? We usually use the restaurant's chairs, but the straps are useless in fighting her desire to stand on the chair. When she's strapped in the FP seat, she's a lot more well-behaved.

LO (16 months) is pretty good at restaurants, as long as we're not pushing an overtired baby. I keep food on hand to give her before our meals come. I have stickers and paper handy which can occupy her for a while, and i bring a few megabloks for her to play with as well. Then i'll start handing her utensils to play with.

The longest she held up at a restaurant was 1.5 hours.
