M has been obsessed with books for the past few months. While we're playing in the nursery I'll grab a book and sit in the rocker and say, "M, do you want to read a book?" and she drops whatever she's doing and races over to me...so cute! Her favorites are Pat the Bunny and Peek-a-Who.

Obsessed lately. First thing in the morning when we go in to get her, she points to the bookshelf. Wants to read instead of playing at night too.

Keeping it real here, my son went through a period where he had absoultely no interest in books. He didn't want to look at them, hold them, stack them, nothing.
Then one day, he picked up a book that had been in his book bin forever and started "reading" it. I guess he had seen it recently in day care and he wanted to show me. Since then, he's gone through periods of not caring or being really enthusiastic.

Obsessed, and its recent! I love it because I can give him a book while I change his diaper, give him medicine, and other things he is too wiggly for. He will also finally snuggle with me to read a book at night, and I love it!

He loves them!! His attention span took a little while to expand, but now at 20 months he can sit for long periods of time and "read" books by himself or with us!
His favorite book right now are both of the Little Blue Truck books, Little Quack books, and Caroline Jayne Church and Sandra Boyton books. Eric Carle books too.

LO 1 is 2.5 and she has been obsessed since 16 months....zero interest before that.
LO 2 likes to chew and destroy books.

Hit and miss, before bed we read stories, but I think she just does it because it keeps her from having to go to sleep

Yes, obsessed! She's such a busy little girl, but when we sit to read books she snuggles right in. I

At 18 months he is just now getting into them! He will bring book after book over to me to read to him, especially at night. We love the Little Blue Truck books, any touch and feel type books and books that name body parts, lol.

Obsessed. I catch him reading all the time, I love it! He's been reading Bugs in Boxes a lot lately...it was my brothers book when we were kids!

She's obsessed with her books, but has short attention span for actually being read to. She can sit and pull her books off the shelf and flip through them for a long time, but she gets excited, then impatient, when I read to her. Usually she moves on to another book that she can flip through while I finish reading the story out loud to myself.

@Foodnerd81: haha! My Mum read to S the other day for the first time in a while and she was shocked how quick S liked to turn the pages...she couldn't read quick enough! Though it was hilarious watching her try

My son has always loved books and he never ripped them apart, which was wonderful.
I'm hoping DD will be the same. She seems to be enjoying story time more these days and is starting to pay a bit of attention.

Obsessed. He spends more time reading with us or by himself than anything else! He has multiple favs but right now he's loving on the "how does a dinosaur" series and anything with a tractor or truck.

Obsessed. There's always a tantrum for one more book. We have to start off by telling her how many books we'll read. Right now she's obsessed with a Dr. Seuss book about monkeys drumming. She will sit and "read" to herself "dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum"

Obsessed. First thing she wants in the morning, and will drop anything at any time of day to come read. However, her attention span is short so she only cares about the book for 5 seconds.
Her *favorite* book is the 'Foot Book' from Dr. Seuss. I am soooo tired of that dang book!

16 months and for the longest time she didn't care for books. I was worried, especially since I'm an avid reader. But all of a sudden, she cares! She wants to be read to! She turns pages! It's so awesome...she will go to her bookshelf and pick up a book and hand it to me and back her little bum up into my lap to be read to. Warms my heart!

12.5 months old and LOVES to read, just like her mama. But there are times she'll hand me a book, I'll read a page, and then she'll grab it back. Then she'll give it to me again 10 seconds later to read.

she didn't seem to care and about a month ago (at 17 months) she started asking for "buh" and making the sign for book. it makes me happy and then i actually WANT to read her books!

She LOVES books! It doesn't matter what she's doing, she'll drop it to read a book. Her favorites are F is for farm and bed time peekaboo. And basically anything with a baby on it- she loves babies too.

Sadly, we are in the "couldn't care less" category. I keep trying and they keep rejecting me. I started reading "Guess How Much I Love You by making a huge game out of it where DH and I throw our arms up in the air, out wide, etc. to try to get them into it. DH even did a head stand one day. They thought Mama and Dada were being hilarious, but they still couldn't care less about the book . . .
To an avid book lover, this is like having a million paper cuts that someone repeatedly pour alcohol over.

DS LOVES them. Always has. His favorites right now are anything Dr. Seuss...ughhhh. He also loves all Curious George books. (21 months)

She's basically always loved them. Since she first started showing interest in things/toys, she's wanted to look through books. Her newest developments are trying to read by herself (sitting in her chair, flipping through, and babbling/pointing to the pages) & trying to get out of going to bed by wanting to read just one more.

My 20 month old twins want me to read to them all day long lately! L didn't really get into it until he was 15 months tho.
They come over with book in hand and throw themselves into my lap haha. Anything with trucks, cars, diggers or trains are their favorites along with grumpy bird, boo hoo bird, and lmno peas.

Absolutely obsessed! For the first year she was all about Brown Bear, Brown Bear ... It wouldn't be a lie if I said I hope I never have to read that again! Now, at 19 months, she loves Peek A Who, too! She also loves anything with animals in it, anything with food in it - and her Olivia board book, because she knows that's her name

Loves books, especially touch and feel ones! He doesn't seem to have a favorite, although maybe he does because lately he loves reading this Mickey Mouse ABC book his daycare provider gave him.

Yep, we've been reading to him since he was about 4 months old. He's almost 2 and loves to pick out his books for bedtime routine. I'm so happy to see that there's a new recommendation to read to kids as early as newborn.
