The other night I was singing Olive to sleep and she popped her head off of my chest and said, "No, daddy!" Then she slapped me across the face.
Does your LO like it when you sing?

Yes, if dh tries to sing too she says "no, just mommy do it!"

Yes, but only the ABC song. Over and over and over again. Bright side: it totally distracts him during diaper changes. And he "sings along" which is terribly cute.

sometimes yes, but lately if I sing during the day (vs bedtime when she likes it) she will tell me "all done mama" as soon as I start. cracks me up! I'm not that bad!

Sometimes. Other times he tells me "stop that racket!" Yep, 2.5 going on 65.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Where did he pick up "racket" at 2 1/2?! Amazing!

If I rock them and sing, both of them seem to like it...any other time, they ask me to stop.

I think so... she stops what she's doing to listen and sometimes does the actions for the song. I think she prefers it when Daddy sings though

@mrbee: haha, I'm sorry, but I laughed.
Yes, he loves it. He asks for a song every night before bed... and then another one, and another one.. He would let me sing him ten songs if I wanted to. We limit it to two before bed.

lol!! I can't wait to find out. I don't sing much(ever?) but my husband does all the time and our pets hate it. Our dog howls and the cat meows. I wonder if he'll finally find his audience with our LO?

@Mrs. Pen: @mrbee: I also laughed!
My LO looooooves being sung to but she's only 4 months so that will probably change

Haha I'm sorry, but that's really hilarious.
Right now LO LOVES me singing. But she's only 8 months and doesn't have much in the way of comparison. I'm sure it will all change when she realizes how tone deaf her mama is.

@Mrs. Pen: @Mrs. Sunshine: @NurseMommy: Haha I figured it was a milestone for Olive... it showed that she has good musical taste!

Haha sorry that is too funny! I don't have a LO yet but when I was a baby my mom said I would start to cry in the most sad and pathetic way whenever she would sing traditional Korean songs. I would start with the bottom lip quivering and everything!

Oh no... I have to admit I laughed a little bit too. They do like it when I sing, I sing to them at bed time and a bunch throughout the day.
Joe was watching Cinderella with me and we got to the part where the sisters are having their music lesson and he asked me why they sounded so funny and Cinderella sounds so good. I told him that some people are good at singing and some people aren't. He looked at me and said mommy, you sound like Cinderella so you must be a person who is good at singing. Oh it just melted my heart

What? That's harsh! Most of the time they like the singing. Sometimes, they will tell me to stop.
pomelo / 5469 posts
Most of the time, yes. But not at bedtime...I can usually only get one verse of a song out and she's squirming to be put down!

@mrbee: haha way too funny! One cheeky little girl you've got!
I sing all the time to LO ad she has never complained. She's only 5 months though some days I feel like my life is one big musical as I sing about everything I'm ding to her all day long

@mrbee: we said it to him once jokingly ... That's all it takes these days!

Sometimes, yes. Other times she knows that I am trying to get her to go to sleep and she is NOT having it.

Yep! It calms her down in the car if she is crying. I sing to her every night after we read. She cuddles up to me and knows that it is bed time.

She likes it. Sometimes she will start singing and when I start, she yells, "no no no!" until I figure out what song she actually wants me to sing...

Ice cold, Olive!!
Yes, the girls like me to make up songs so I do that every day.
