Not sure what us "typical..." I assumed that every time I flopped a boob in front if my LO, she'd happily nurse away...not the case. If she doesn't want it, she'll get pissssed, flappy arms, arched back, crying, etc.
Does/did your LO nurse whenever you offered or only when they were interested?

Maybe 80% of the time? She definitely lets me know when she's not interested though!

She's a boob monster. She also nurses off my cheeks, arms and nose if it's an option. And any time anybody holds her in a remotely "eating position" type hold.

I'd say 90% of the time when offered he will nurse. He has to really not want to to refuse.

Nope, not after he was 3 months...at that point it was a struggle. Unless it was between midnight and 5am, then he was always down to nurse!

Most if not all of the time he'll take it. I think only if he's really pissed and screaming will he refuse.

Nope, after about 3 months she'd only take it if she wanted it and would get really pissed if she wasn't interested. I found it really upsetting!!! I wrote a post about it... Now at 9 months she'll typically latch on when I offer but if she's not hungry she just gives a couple of sucks and then pulls off and looks around. She doesn't get pissed anymore.

Only when interested. When she was four months she went on a boob strike for a week. That lil' stinker!

Yep. Everytime. Even at 7.5 months. And if I let her, she would stay on forever each time!

During the day she just seems not into it! Come nighttime she'll eat fiercer then stuck around to comfort nurse. It sounds super similar to what you were dealing with, @sslm: , thanks for that link. She'll usually huge a suck or two if I force it, and then if I keep trying, that's when she melts down. The past few days I've been trying to just back off and feed when she's signaling she is. I realized I was offering almost every hour or two. Oops!

@Sapphiresun: haha LO "nurses" on my cheeks too when I pick her up out of the crib. So funny.
LO has never turned down the boob. I think she'd keep latched all day if I'd let her!

She will usually latch and if she's not interested she'll stop after a second or two. It's like reflexes for her and then she realizes "oh ya! I'm not really hungry!" Haha.

Yep. 11 months and she never refuses. Sometimes she's done after only a few minutes though. She definitely loves nursing but she's also a mama's girl and I think just loves to be held and snuggled while nursing.
