Yes. If he doesn't on his own I say "clean up, so we can ____" and he does it. There's been a handful of times when he doesn't want to and the threat of time out helps motivate him. {He's 22 months.}

how old is your LO? mine is 18 months. sometimes he puts his toys away with my prodding, but it's more of an interesting thing to him--when he doesn't feel like doing it he doesn't. and once as he starts to think of it as a "chore", i'm sure all bets will be off.

sometimes! she is only 15 months, but we sing a song and clean up toys every night after bath as part of our routine, and occasionally she decides to help. when she is older it will become more of an expectation.

@shinymama: @littlek: same. When she was little she used to clean up for fun but at almost 3 she does it bc I tell her she needs to clean up.

Nope! I can't wait for the day that happens! She will put things away sometimes, when I repeatedly ask and show her to. But then immediately takes the item(s) out to play with again. *sigh*

Yep. My 18 mo is obsessed with cleaning up - she would rather clean up than play.

Usually. We started a sticker chart with his chores and that's one of them and he loves getting his stickers.

Yes. We've started making her (sh'es 2). If she doesn't, it gets put up for a couple days and she can't play with it. She has caught on quickly... haha

Yes! He throws them in his playpen. And also throws all our stuff in there He thinks it's a game, but hey, whatever gets the house clean!

Not usually, but we have a dedicated playroom where he sets up his train tracks and what not...so mostly I let it stay as it is. It's easier than having to build those tracks again, that's for sure.

Not yet, but around 2 it will be a requirement. Right now i make him stop playing while i clean up so he can watch me. Sometimes he helps put things in a basket. Having clearly labeled places to put things is really helpful with the little ones. He is moving to a new room soon, and i am going to take pictures of his toys and use them to label his bins so that he starts seeing where things go. This is something we did in the toddler room i worked in and it made it really easy for the kids to know what was expected of them. By 2 he should be perfectly capable of putting limited toys away.

Sometimes he helps, sometimes he has no interest. We don't force it yet, (20 months). He is otherwise obsessed with cleaning though, sweeping, vacuuming, picking up trash, etc.

We usually ask him to help if he wants to move on to a different toy/activity but not always. I plan to start enforcing it soon, now that he's just about 2.

Yes, if he knows where it goes. He has certain toys that have a designated container and he puts them away for fun. I don't think he realizes it's helpful... I think he just likes throwing his blocks in a bucket!

@Boogs: What age did you start the sticker chart? I think that's something my son would love, but I'm wondering if he's too young right now (almost 23 months).

Sometimes she will, we sing a silly song and do it together, but in the last few days she's been saying "no mommy do it." and then I threated to take them away, she doesn't really get it though.
