Both of my girls have slept with white noise from day one. DH and I have always slept with white noise though so we kind of got them hooked on it. I'm not sure how they would sleep if they didn't have their fans!
Does your LO sleep with white noise? Can they sleep without it?

He does! I don't know if he could sleep with out it...I do know that if I turn it off in the middle of his sleep he will wake up!

Yes and yes. She can sleep without it but it is great at blocking out other noises!

Yes he does. But when the power goes out and it goes off he stays sleeping. And we've forgot to turn it on and he's fallen asleep.

Both of our kids (8 months and 2 1/2 years) do. I don't sleep with it, but my husband does (which makes me, too, I guess...).

He does! He's a light sleeper so we needed something to help drown out outside noise to keep him from waking up every time we moved around the house.
I'd say he could sleep without it. It was more for function than comfort. Although I haven't tried

Lo currently is sleeping with a fan on for part of the night since we are in the middle of Summer and it's really hot at night. She doesn't use anything for white noise the rest of the year.

Yep, although I don't think she needs it - it's more so that we don't have to tiptoe around. But now I'm hooked on it.

Yes he does but it's just so we don't have to be super-quiet since we live in an apartment. But the kid could sleep through a hurricane either way I think. He definitely doesn't "need" it.

Yep! Ocean sounds. It's become a great sleep cue for her. Although I joke that when we take her to the beach when she's older she'll fall asleep!!

No machine but a box fan. At my parents she sleeps fine with no white noise and she doesn't wake up if the power goes out and it turns off. I wake up almost immediately. Don't turn my fan off....lol

Yep. Both boys rooms are next to the AC fan, but D also uses a ceiling fan and M has a sound machine to fill in when it's not going.

My LO uses it. I used to think she would be able to sleep without it, but now that she's been consistently using it, I think she expects it as part of her sleep environment.

Yes! I wasn't sure whether we should stop or not, but then it turned off the other night and he woke up. So he'll sleep with it on forever 
. We sleep with a fan on in our room for white noise too.

LO isn't here yet, but I grew up with a white noise machine and DH is now also addicted. We use fans if we travel/are in a hotel. Our house is really small and we have a big, clumsy dog, so we're planning on getting a machine for LO as well.

yup we have a marpac dohm in the hall outside the girls' rooms! I suppose I sort of benefit from it too, since I'm nearest our bedroom door. if I turn it off, DD1 wakes up almost immediately.

We sleep with classical music lightly playing in the background. It has always helped my mood even when I had pp insomnia.

Yep! It's often easier for him to fall asleep with white noise and settle again through any stirrings. We use an app on our phones.

Nope... Her bedroom is on the first floor near our open concept kitchen/living area though so she's gotten used to falling asleep in lots of noise
