Yeah. My little bit has been on meds since he was a week old for reflux. So he has lots of practice. They commented at his 8 week appointment when they did the oral vaccine how he took it. Just two weeks ago when he had tubes, they gave him a cup of something to help him relax. He took that like a champ as well. The boy (older than him slightly) in the next area would not take it at all.

Sometimes she'll take it so easily and other times she will fight and do anything to keep us from getting that dropper in her mouth.

Fine for Advil, Tylenol, but not antibiotics. It's a fight each time. We just squirt it in and hope she doesn't gag it up.

DD begs for "yahk" whenever she sees a syringe or bottle of tylenol. Who is she?! DS started pushing the liquid out with his tongue

She LOVES taking medicine. Especially the homeopathic teething capsules we have for her - she slurps them down.

R loves Motrin and Tylenol! Like will whin if she sees the syringe and doesn't get any. She loved the Vitmain D drops when nursing.

Usually yes, but this Amoxicillin rX is chalky and gross and she hates it. Otherwise she is like a baby bird.

@redsmarties: same with my little guy! He even asks for more. He also loves his homeopathic cough medicine, Zarbees and Motrin. Oy.

No! She's currently on antibiotics for a double ear infection and I dread giving them to her. She's a little better about taking Motrin.

My son is much better at it now than he was a year ago. He can use his nebulizer and take liquid medicine from a spoon.

My LO doesn't like the sweet syrupy medicines. Everything else he takes like a champ but those always end up in my face.

My oldest LOVES medicine. I wonder about future dependency when he's older. My youngest... wasn't a huge fan but is doing better about it now that he's older.

DD is terrible about taking her medicine. She refuses it off a spoon but if you syringe it in she spits it straight back out again! I wait until she is hungry then take the teat off a bottle, put the correct measure of medicine into the teat and give it to her. If she's hungry enough, she will suck and swallow 5ml before she notices it's not milk and spits it out!
As for her inhaler - ugh. She freaks out, waving her head around frantically. You have to pin her down and force the mask over the mouth - it's awful. But nothing else has worked.

DS is awesome about taking medicine. I on the other hand, as a child, was horrendous! I have memories from about the age of four being held down and forcefed medicine because they couldn't get me to take it in any way and I had pneumonia. I learned to swallow a pill young as a result!

@Cherrybee: We also have to use a nebulizer. If found one trick that works: I nurse him before bed and then when he is done and drowsy he gets his paci. The paci then fits under the mask and he will then pretty much sleep through the whole nebulizer treatment.
So it went from being hellish to workling really well for us.

@Pumuckl: The doctor said to do it when she's asleep but I have one of those babies who wakes up if you so much as walk into the room!
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@Pumuckl: Our nebulizer is LOUD, there's no way my son would remain asleep during a treatment, that I know for sure!
We have two options with the nebulizer, the mask or the nozzle. We used primarily the nozzle because the mask freaked him out and when he got more comfortable, he'd help us "hold" it.

@Cherrybee: it takes some practice, they get used to it.
The fights we used to have with liquid medicine, oh my. It took two adults to get the medicine in.

yup. she calms down as soon as she sees the syringe, ha! we've had a veryyy sloooow teething journey, so she's pretty familiar with ibuprofen and tylenol.
she has her first ear infection and has been on amoxicillin and loves it!

Depends on the day, she takes her Rx well (she's been doing it since she was 6 months old, she used to it now) but new medicine doesn't always go over well (Advil, ect.)

@looch: @Cherrybee: I know, our's is so loud too. But I guess it kind of is a white noise sound. I've also put it as far away as possible from where we are sitting.

If given in small doses at a time, yes. Otherwise, he'll cough/choke on it and it comes spewing out along with any milk and food remaining in his body. It also needs to be berry flavor. Bubble gum is no bueno!

@chopsuey: so does mine! Haha. She's a big baby and whenever she has a little owie, begs for some yahk.

She is pretty easy to dose, but she doesn't like Motrin. No problem with Tylenol or Advil though.

No!! LO is terrible about taking medicine. It's a fight every time, and on occasion he spits it out.

We tried to give her Tylenol for a fever a couple weeks ago and she vomited everywhere. Ugh.
