If so, which one(s)?
Both girls use a Marpac Dohm on the highest setting. DD1's is almost going on 4 years!

Yep marpac dohm! We have one for each room. I have a hard time sleeping without white noise now too!

@hilsy85: do you use one? DH has a hard time getting into deep sleep. I wonder if that will help him? But I'm afraid that will affect me hearing the baby wake up in the MOTN!

Yep. An old cell phone with a white noise app. We had a sound machine and it broke. The phone is easy to bring when we travel and for maps in the car we put it on too. High maintenance for sure.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
we have a dohm too, based on reviews here! it's great, and lo totally associates it with bedtime. she likes turning it on herself before bed, and turning it on in the morning (though it's less cute at 4am when she cries "noise OFF! mama wake UP" haha)

I might be the odd ball out that didn't really like the dohm!
We use homedic sound spa and will probably use it forever!

yep - we have Graco ones - bought them when they were born and still going strong - so 7 and almost 5 yrs
I use a noise app on my phone - I cant sleep in dead quiet

Yes! We use the SoundSpa sleepy snail. I like it because it is battery operated so it is so simple to take with us! Sometimes we take it in the car.

Home medic sound spa with projector for both boys (3.9 and 14 months). My husband doesn't like using the highest setting, he's worried about their hearing. But I do put it fairly high. We have hardwood floors and it's loud upstairs.

LO uses the sleep sheep as a signal that it's bedtime. He is a deep sleeper and can sleep through anything. I bought the marpac for LO2 since he would be awaken by LO's middle of the night wake ups. It's been going strong for the past year and a half. Wish I had bought it sooner. I also get the benefits from hearing it through the baby monitor.

@Mrs. Champagne: This is a good plan. Currently I use my cellphone with a white noise app, but while she is sleeping and napping it is out of commission for my use. Have to dig mine out!

Yep, we have a cheap sound machine but use it every night! And use iPhone apps for when we travel. I don't know if he ne da it at this point, but I don't want to find out!

HoMedics sound spa, on the white noise setting only. And we bring it when we travel! I didn't love Dohm, but DH uses it in our room when he needs to get good sleep. Tried a white noise machine app on the phone but I swear I could hear DS crying in the noise...whatever the sound was totally didn't work for me.

Yep, she uses the travel-sized sleep sheep and loves it! It helps her to fall asleep, and now she also snuggles it like a lovey. I like that it's portable and cuddly, and that it's not too loud.
I also use one when I can't sleep. It's the White Noise app for android on my phone, and I love it! There are days where I will listen to different sounds all day while I work, then sometimes when I need to sleep. But usually, a fan or our humidifier is good enough for that.

Yes, both girls have Dohms in their rooms. Our oldest is 3.5 and our youngest is 3 months. The baby is still in our room so it makes DH and I sleep better since we don't hear every little noise she makes in the night.
pear / 1510 posts
HoMedics sound spa - white noise. LO is 3 and likes to play with the other sounds, but when it's time for sleep, white noise only. We call it her sleepy sounds. Now I can't sleet without either the white noise app on my phone or a fan.

C has a cheap homedics one- it's the second since we dropped the first one hard a few times. The baby sleeps in our room now so we treated ourselves to a marpac and I'm surprised how much better I like it!
@regberadaisy: it does mean I can't hear C quite as we'll having the sound machine, but we can hear her if she really cries. Plus stupid super sonic mom hearing and all.

Marpac for life here too...we currently have one in Ks room and out room...I just bought another one for when DD2 arrives...
pear / 1503 posts
The homedics one on white noise. We have a portable homedics for car use, and use the waves sound on that. Although all of the noises on that have soothed him at one point or another, and he likes to press the buttons.

LOVE the Dohm! We cosleep, so we all get the benefits! We'll almost definitely get her one of her own when she's ready to move to her own room someday. We take it on trips and everything.

We used white noise baby app for a long time, until we found a sound machine on groupon. I forget the brand, but it's similar to the dohm. She doesn't use one at my inlaws and has no issues there, but I'm too scared to take it away here. I like that it signals bed time and that we don't have to be totally quiet at night with it on. DH (and now me obviously) still sleep with one!

We have a homedic sound spa that is on 24/7 in their nursery. I had a Marpac Dohm but I sold it because the sound spa worked fine.
The mamaroo out in the living room also has a sound machine so we use that sometimes, too.

We have the Munchkin one. We love it. It was a godsend for our light sleeper. I'm wanting to wean him off of it soon though.

Love our Dohm! I used to use it all the time at work, too, it is great!
And we travel with it as well.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
Yes, love the Dohm both for LO's room, AND for our own room. We've used ours for years, even before having a baby.

@Mrs. Champagne: Ditto!
Old iPhone with a white noise app in our old Bose sound dock.

We have the Dohm, handed down from a friend who used it for 5 years with her kids. It definitely blocks out a lot of noise and DS associates it with sleep. For short trips we take a mini jambox and use a white noise app. For longer trips we take the dohm.

Old dohm hand me down for DD1 and new dohm for DD2. The old one is kinda getting rattly sounding so I'm gonna probably grab a new one for DD1 again when I find a sale!

Old cell phone with a white noise maker app. At nap and bed time she asks for "ocean!" If it's not already started.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
Dohm4Lyfe. We also run a humidifier for DS every night.
We'll need to get another dohm/humidifier combo for DS2.
apricot / 443 posts
We also use the marpac dohm. I used to use an old iPhone but digital white noise sounds make my husband go crazy. The dohm has a real fan so he tolerates it much better (he still doesn't love it).
pear / 1586 posts
We use an old phone/dock with the white noise app in his room. We originally had the conair white noise machine for our nanny share (when at the other house) & traveling but it became a little temperamental so we ended up getting the Marpac Dohm.
hostess / watermelon / 14932 posts
Homedic sound spa. We had a dohm but it burnt out after a year
kiwi / 557 posts
DS (almost 3) has a HoMedics sound machine and a fan. I bought the same for DD but she's still in our room for now and we use an Ecotones sound + sleep machine.
grapefruit / 4355 posts
Am I the only one who never uses a sound machine for their LO? I have never felt the need for one and DD doesn't seem to miss it ...
