LO 1 doesn't want us to read to her anymore so I just read to the baby nearby and she usually joins in after a few minutes.

yes but she has most of them memorized so she can "read" the whole book

Well she takes books and sits on the floor or chair and looks at them by herself but she isn't talking yet so not really reading. But I am thrilled with this. Huge improvement!

My little guy likes to look at the pictures and point to animals and label them all as cats...does that count? Lately when I read to him after about 5-10 minutes he will close the book and say "bye bye."

Mine does! She won't turn down being read to, but she loves to sit on the floor and turn the pages and look at the pictures.

@Smurfette: same- c loves flipping through her books herself. She sits in front if the bookshelf and takes every book off one by one, turns all the pages, puts it down and goes to the next one. It's so cute. She also gets excited for me to read to her but after a few minutes she starts taking the book from me and turning the pages for herself. She's 11 months, so as brilliant as I am sure she is, she probably isn't actually reading them.

My DS likes to read books in bed by himself after we tuck him in. My DD can read by herself but she actually prefers reading to someone, like me or her little brother.
