My sister and her husband are the only OOT family that I invite. I never actually expect them to come, but I know she appreciates the invite. This year she'll be coming for it though, I'm excited!

He hasn't had his first yet but I'll be surprised if DH's family doesn't come down. They drive down for weekend visits to my ILs (who like ~40 minutes away from us) pretty regularly. Maybe not for every birthday, but hopefully for this first one. And the rest of them live ~2 hours away and I'm sure they'll come.
My side would need to fly, though, and that's just not going to happen.

LO's first birthday is Saturday (eek! so much to do!) and my MIL flew in today from CA. My aunt and uncle are driving up from RI (3 hours). Other than that, no OOT family is coming (basically all of them live 3000 miles away, so that's understandable).

My mom, both brothers, one SIL, all nieces and nephews and BIL all came in for her first! But we don't really expect a repeat every year.

I try to go to my nephews and niece's birthday parties. LO got sick, so we're not going these weekend. They'll be invited, but I don't expect them to attend.

My sister didn't come to DS first birthday, but I wasn't expecting her too since my brother was getting married 3 weeks later. and she had just been in town for their baby shower 2 weeks before his party.
