Sometimes I'll say "the consensus on HB about X is Y or Z" and he'll look at me as though I'm crazy for listening to a bunch of strangers on a forum! The majority of the time he's pretty interested though and is happy to go with it

Surprisingly, yes! If I start rambling some information off he'll say, "See that on the boards?" And whenever I have a question about something, he says "Why don't you ask the boards?" He trusts you guys not to lead me too far astray

He doesn't pay attention much but if we have something baby-related that we wonder about, he says to ask HB
honeydew / 7589 posts
Pretty much. I mean if it's important than someone will have usually posted a study or something like that. He knows that I check stuff out, so he takes my word for it.
pomegranate / 3858 posts
It factors in, but I wouldn't say he'd rely solely on HB advice/opinions.
watermelon / 14467 posts
He kind of makes fun of me about it, but whatever. What mama says goes when it comes to the baby.
grapefruit / 4136 posts
He asks if a picture is one of the 'honey bees' or if we have a question about j he'll ask if I've consulted with my 'honey bee girls'
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
yep! When talking about something we can't figure, he says well did you ask the bee?
honeydew / 7091 posts
Definitely not. I try to just not talk about it, because he thinks the internet is a weird place anyway. I met up with @babyjmama: once and he definitely thought L and I were going to be kidnapped, haha!
pomelo / 5469 posts
@swurlygurl: hahaha! I often refer to HB babies that are a similar age to LO and I'll be like "Elizabeth is doing X" or "Thomas does X too" and I think he thinks I'm talking about babies I know IRL...it's like IG, he assumes they are all babies I know IRL because why on Earth would I want to see photos of babies I don't know
pomegranate / 3577 posts
There might've been an occasion or two when he was like, "You should totally post XYZ." Ha!
pineapple / 12802 posts
Yes! We love the bee. I did recently get scolded by a doctor for doing something that everyone on the bee said was the norm. Hahaha (drinking water before one). *shrugs*
pomelo / 5469 posts
@.twist.: what? Your doc doesn't recommend giving any water before one? Did you actually tell him that HB said it was ok? I can't imagine our doctors face if I told him I was relying on a forum!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Sometimes!! Sometimes I'll say something like "Well @Smurfette's baby does the same thing" and then he'll be all "Okay, so it's normal."
bananas / 9899 posts
I don't think so lol. I mean it might depend on the subject, but in general I doubt he'd see HB as a good place to get information.
coconut / 8861 posts
With some things, yes and others no. I tend to ignore the FB hysterical posts that make their way here because it tends to breed unnecessary anxiety and fear.
ETA: DH is the same way. He's a researcher like me. He'd go with proven information instead of forum discussion.
coconut / 8472 posts
He totally trusts HB. If we're discussing something and have a question he'll be like "Did you ask the bees? Why don't you start a thread?" LOL
pineapple / 12802 posts
@illumina: ha no! I just mentioned that while he's been sick I've been giving him water, milk, pedialyte... He stared at me and was like "water? Why are you giving him water? No water before one. You might as well just give him something with electrolytes. It's much more simple if there no water before one"
For the record..... My kid still drinks water....

Sometimes. DH thinks it might be a bit biased because its mostly all women on here.
When it comes to gender-less topics, it can be kinda accurate.
Oh, I believe these sites (I think there was a poll) are more liberal than conservative, so that can also make things biased. It's helps me because I'm more liberal than my conservative leaning DH. I don't think he knows that!
pomelo / 5469 posts
@.twist.: I didn't realise that! I was getting nervous that we weren't giving LO enough water because she only sips with meals and that we were relying too much on formula to hydrate her! Guess I shouldn't worry now...Dh and I have talked about this on a few occasions and later I'll be like "Twist says we don't need to worry about giving water..." lol.
apricot / 495 posts
It depends on what it is. If I say the consensus on HB is babies like to face out in carriers, he would listen. If I say the consensus on HB is that D has bird flu, he would roll his eyes and say we need to go see a real doctor
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
For experience type stuff, but certainly not for medical/health issues.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@illumina: hahaha I do that to my husband as well! The ped at the hospital was pretty adamant that it wasn't necessary before one. But I swear I read on HB that it was good to introduce it so they get a feel for something other than milk that is not juice. Ya know? Plus, my kid doesn't drink a LOT of milk and that worries me with hydration.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Yup!! When I have a questions about something, his initial response is "ask that mommy forum you're always on". haha
@.twist.: DS always has water during meals!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: seriously. Crazy doc. He also gave me shit for not going to the children's hospital the first time. Even though it was 2am. And across the f'ing city! Haha I kinda thought emerg is emerg no matter which hospital. He thought different.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I don't know! I do tell him all the time that "well, the consensus on HB is..."
pomelo / 5469 posts
@.twist.: Dh came in and sat down and I told him about the water. He said "that's good to know". I referred to you as the one who gave cow's milk before one because I've mentioned that to him before (we were talking about doing the same thing).
pineapple / 12802 posts
@illumina: ah yes. I definitely did that too. Hahaha I'm a rule breaker!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
DH always asks me what Hellobee says! But he trusts my research, so he knows I wouldn't make a decision based solely on HB, either.
