We waited to start trying until a certain point that would mean my maternity leave would span the holidays. We got pregnant on the first try, miscarried, skipped a month, then got pregnant on the first try again so 3 months to get a stick baby and LO was born in late November which ended up being perfect. But we wouldn't have put a hold on TTC once we started just for the sake of timing the due date. (Unless it would mean missing a once in a life time event like a sibling's wedding or something similar).

We discussed together that we would prefer not to have a child born during the holiday season. I'm not sure if we would take a break from TTC in order to avoid a holiday birth though. Hmm... I'll have to ask DH.

No, I wouldn't stop because of a potential due date. My DH might if it was solely up to him..he doesn't want our future LO to be born in October - because we have too many things going on that month (hunting season starts, our anniversary). But now that we've started, there's no way we would stop for something like that.

@pui: that's funny, I would love to be due one of those months! The summer is the time I would like to avoid.

No and we have a December baby.

With LO we avoided me being due October - December so that I wouldn't have to miss being MOH in my best friends wedding.

This go around we are holding off TTC so we can go on my mom's 60th bday vacation.

It sucks, but these are/were events I knew I'd regret missing.

I would prefer a Jan-Aug baby to avoid school cut off dates but I don't think I'll plan around it.

The first time around, we started TTC in the summer because I really wanted a spring baby and we said we would take a TTC pause for a few months to avoid a holiday baby. 13 cycles later, I was willing to have a healthy baby ANY time of the year. My baby was due at the end of January - *not* what I would have planned, but it ended up working out great.

This time we don't have a lot of say when we start TTC due to health issues, and it's happening earlier than I would like. If we are successful right away, I would be due during the hottest part of the year (yuck!) and if it takes a couple of cycles, I will be due during the holidays. Not ideal, but I'll take what I can get.

This baby was a surprise but I think when we TTC for #2 I will think about due dates! Really just dates in general. I felt so crappy the 1st tri this time around and it was at my busiest time of year which was really hard. I think I would consider when would be easiest to go through 1st tri and when I'd like to deliver. Of course if we're trying for a bit and having trouble I may say f it and just try for any time. But at first at least, I think we'll try to plan it specifically.

I really didn't want a Christmas baby, and would have avoided that cycle if I could just *count*. LO is due Dec. 21. I totally thought we were going to have a January baby, haha...joke's on me! DH likes the December due date though.

@PurplePeony: One of my best friends also cannot count. She *planned* her TTC to avoid having to miss her SIL's wedding... only to be due on the exact wedding date.

Yes - I wanted to avoid TTC in March so that we didn't have a December baby. I also didn't want to be pregnant during the miserably hot TX summers, so we focused on the times when I would be more pregnant during the winter/spring months.

Working in education, a summertime birth was ideal. However, I told myself I never wanted to be pregnant (and overdue) in the summer, again. I'd like a winter baby next, but it really doesn't matter.

Early in our TTC journey, we didn't TTC during the March- April months because we didn't want a holiday baby. But now that I'm on month 17 of trying, we really do not care when it happens. We'll take any month. I just want to see a BFP at some point in my life.

Yes! Really trying to have a second due date before the fall for so many reasons.

We are waiting to start bcause I would love a spring baby, however we will start trying in May so there is potential it would be a winter baby. Due to how my vacation works at work I want to have the baby before May.

Yes, we did. My husband is off work all summer (professor) so an early summer baby was ideal as then we would have 12 weeks off work together. Luckily, the timing worked and LO was born 2 days after he stopped teaching.

If we were going to have a second, we would definitely try to time that LO the same way.

It will next time - we conceived on our wedding anniversary which ended up making us due the week between our birthdays. Next time we'll shoot for a month that isn't quite so busy

Ideally we'd like the due date to be between end of November and beginning of March. This is so that DH can be more available in the first few months. DH would probably stop TTC if we didn't get KU in time for a due date during those months, but I told him I'm definitely not game for that. My mum can come stay with us if he's busy and working.
