YES! His mom makes "gringo tacos" (that's what they call it, not my name)-- corn tortillas fried to make a crispy shell, and ground beef with taco seasoning. Then of course, cheese, guac, tomatoes, lettuce (baby spring greens, not like, iceberg), and taco sauce on the side. I don't know why I dislike them so much, but they aren't my cup of tea.

opposite. there are things i like that he thinks are gross. like cheese. we are mostly on the same page with the things we like so it's not too tricky.

@autumnlove: mmmm....stir fry, one of my favorite meals!
Like @JHD I tend to be the one who likes things he thinks are gross...like lots of veggies, casseroles, etc.

He requests things I do not enjoy making...shrimp scampi. So much prep!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: mmmmm, do you have a good recipe?

My SO is an extremely picky eater. Usually I make things he hates. Lol

Not really, but he makes requests I don't really understand. Typical conversation:
Me: what do you want for dinner?
DH: (thinks for a minute) Brussels sprouts.
Me: Okay, with what?
DH: (thinks for a minute) Um, rice. Or maybe noodles.
Me: Brussels sprouts and rice don't really make a dinner -- what type of entree do you want?
DH: (blank stare, silence)
Or,
Me: What do you want for dinner?
DH: Beef cubes in the slow cooker with mushrooms. And cauliflower.
Me: So...like a beef stew?
DH: No, not a stew. Just those things.
Me: Find me some sort of recipe because I don't understand what you're talking about.
DH: No, it'll be fine.
I don't know why I even bother asking anymore...

DH always suggests chicken recipes. I'm not against chicken but I hate handling raw chicken. It's even worse when I'm pregnant! Yuck! I just want to see the chicken cooked and ready for me to eat. The end.

@MrsRcCar: same.
He is very picky. He requests pretty simple things like mac n cheese and chicken. He likes steak and seafood, which is a common ground for us.
I wish he'd request something, jeez. He always wants a sandwich haha.
I like to cook; I cook for my family all the time and I can't wait until my future kids can appreciate my cooking!

he would eat taco and pizza every night if he had it his way. I like both but in moderation.

@Sweet T: Same here...chicken grosses me out! What's for dinner....chicken!

Not so much that I hate, but there is some frustration when he asks for a Korean dish and can't figure out what it's called or what's in it!
"You know...that thing you make...it might be a soup?"
"I make a lot of Korean soups..."
"It has a vegetable in it"
"Yes, they usually do, do you know what kind?"
Next time I should just hand him some cookbooks and tell him to let me know when he sees a picture of it.

yep,and i make them anyway! haha. he loves lasagna, i hate it, luckily he eats enormous portions so he can consume an entire batch by himself before it goes bad

My husband likes the same things all the time. I make these chicken lettuce wraps like they have at PF Changs and every week when I ask him what he wants for dinner he says, 'Lettuce Wraps.' I guess I should be happy that he's easily pleased but I get bored! He requests a ton of stuff I don't like, but that's really just because I'm a vegetarian and he's a devoted meat-eater.

@autumnlove: I adapted the Barefoot Contessa's Baked Shrimp Scampi recipe.
2 pounds extra large shrimp (peel including tails, devein and butterfly)
3 tbsp EVOO
2 tbsp white wine (usuall Barefeet's Reisling)
coarse Sea salt, fresh ground bksck pepper
1.5 sticks unsalted butter
4 tsp minced garlic (4 cloves)
1/4 cup shallots
3 tbsp minsed fresh parsley
1 tsp minced fresh rosemary (I use 2 tsp of dry rosemary from a spice jar)
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (I give 3 good shakes of cayenne pepper spice)
2 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp grated lemon zest
Place shrimp in a bowl with EVOO, wine, salt & pepper. (I also add a couple shakes of garlic powder, squeeze some fresh lemon here too)
In skillet brown the butter, garlic, shallots, parsley, rosemary, red pepper, lemon zest, and lemin juuce. Basically you want a nice sizzle and to smell the garlic. Add shrimp with the marinade. Stir, to quickly cook the shrimp. (If you need more "sauce" I add in EVOO first and to thicken butter)
Serve over a bed of linguini (cooked in liberally salted water).

@JerricaBenton: I love lettuce wraps!!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yum! I'm definitely gonna try it...thank you!

haha, no. I'm not making anything I don't like. If he wants it, he can make it himself. And vice-versa! He's complained about things I've made before, but I figure if I'm cooking, I can make whatever I want! He can make whatever he wants when he cooks.

DH loves sausage & potatoes.... I'll eat sausage, but I'd also be fine never eating it! lol
@PurplePeony: That's hilarious!

He requests buttered noodles sometimes. They're so easy, I don't mind making them. But butter on noodles and that's it grosses me out
I also make him biscuits and gravy. I hate it! But it's a treat for him and I will make him a pot sometimes for breakfast

@PurplePeony: hahaha that's too funny!!
My DH is very picky and most of the stuff he loves is unhealthy, so it's more like the other way around in our household. I love spices, onions, garlic, seasoning, etc in my food... he could do without some of that stuff.

He'll ask to go to restaurants I'm not fond of or can't eat at. "Let's have Penn Station!" "No, I can't have deli meat, and fries are not a meal." "How about Qdoba?" "We just ate there, I don't want it again." He likes most of what I cook, but hates veggie burgers.

@PurplePeony: your typical conversations made me laugh, and while I don't know you, I can totally imagine this conversation! Thanks for the smile today!
