I wish my DH requested more meals....he never has any input and he just vetoes my suggestions!

Does your SO request specific meals?

Nope, he is the opposite. He never has any requests, he just eats whatever I make. Which is cool but also makes me feel that nothing I make is really "requestable" haha...

@rahlyrah: sounds good! What do you usually serve with your chili? Cornbread?

@T-Mom: Same here!
Every now and again he'll request something specific...this week it's potato soup...but usually he doesn't give shy input.
honeydew / 7444 posts
Not really. The only thing he will request is my jerk chicken and this ginger-scallion sauce. He's usually, "Whatever is fine..."
pomelo / 5509 posts
@T-Mom: I would give exactly the same answer. He will eat anything I make, but he's never requested anything a second time, which makes me think nothing is good enough to be memorable!

@autumnlove: Man...if DH kept vetoing my suggestions, I would tell him to come up with something himself if he doesn't like anything I suggest!
He does on occasion when he's feeling hungry for something. His favorite is chicken parm, so I try to make that every so often...especially when I know he's had a bad day.

most of the time it's a crockpot chicken (i think he likes when i make a whole chicken so he can pick at it in the fridge after!), or steak. he doesn't ask for many specific recipes though- more like a meal selection off a wedding reception card: BEEF, CHICKEN, PORK, haha.

We sit down and meal plan together every week so we each come up with a couple of ideas of things we want.

@rahlyrah: I just found a killer chicken chili recipe and he's already had me make it twice.

Chicken Parm....like once a week at least. He's a man of routine though and likes to eat/do the same things over and over. It;s fine with me because it takes a lot of the stress out of deciding what to make!

Very rarely. Most of the time if I ask him what he wants for dinner he replies with "I don't know, whatever," lol.

We both have things we request! He makes the perfect caramelized flank steaks for Mexican dishes, so I ask for that. He requests my meatloaf, Dijon-lime chicken, and potato soup.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
sometimes yep! during the work week he just eats what i or my mom has made for us!
pomegranate / 3414 posts
Yes, he suggests lots of meals (mostly ones that we've never had before and would take me awhile to prepare). I wish he'd suggest less and cook more.
pomegranate / 3113 posts
Sometimes he'll request certain dishes that remind him of home, but the rest of the time, his standard answer when I ask what he wants is "spinach." Never any ideas what to DO with the spinach, though. I don't really know why I bother asking!

He loves mexican food, so he's extra happy when I make enchiladas, chili, quesadillas, etc. He doesn't usually request anything, and seems to be happy with whatever I make, so I'm lucky in that respect! He's not picky either, which helps
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
I bite his head off when he does something like make a request (I'm an insecure, new cook so if he requests sometime I take it the wrong way and yell at him for assuming I'm always going to cook and making me feel guilty for not cooking enough... he's such a lucky guy to have me, eh?) but when I tell him we're having one of his favorites, his eyes light up, he says "ooooh" and does a little happy dance. So I know what he would request if he had the chance
He loves my slow cooker beef tips and anything Korean I make, which is basically only kimchi jjigae and Korean fried rice nowadays.
honeydew / 7917 posts
He makes an occasional request every now and then, and I'm happy to follow through. It might take me a few weeks. Hehe. I usually ask him to help me menu plan for the week.
nectarine / 2274 posts
Yes he'll ask for certain dishes that are his favorites. He started cooking as well, so it's a huge load off of me. I'm not picky at all, I eat whatever he serves.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Only cheesecake, but that's not really a meal, haha.
But I don't take requests. I make whatever I want to make and he makes whatever he wants to make when he's cooking.
honeydew / 7909 posts
He gives me suggestions when I'm making the grocery list and meal planning but if I can't decide what to make, he's never any help and it drives me nuts!
pomegranate / 3779 posts
Not much, he pretty much eats whatever I cook. I know he usually prefers rice as the starch, so I try to do that a few times a week.
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
Everytime I ask it's tacos and pizza...it's like he's a kid. I stopped asking and just make what I want so we have some variety in our lives!
pomelo / 5621 posts
Sometimes when I ask there will be something specific he wants. I usually only ask when I can't come up with an idea though.
pear / 1579 posts
Only one meal, which is his favorite of all time. Other than that, whatever I say goes.
bananas / 9628 posts
@Adira: i, too, would request cheesecake if i had someone at home who would make one for me
