Oh my... Mavrick just started calling me Kelly. We realized that a while back he was saying Maaaaaaar for Marc (my husbands name) we thought he was calling both Dh and I mama. Nope, he's using our first names. But that's because he hears us saying our names. I hope it passes soon. Me don't like it.

I read somewhere that your kids should know your first name, esp. if they get separated from you and need to find you.
I wonder if this is why parents go around calling each other Mom and Dad?

My niece will yell 'Billie stop it" at her dad when he teases her and I think it's because she hears my sister do it when he is messing with her. The first time I laughed so hard, now we can't since they are trying to break her of the habit.

@chopsuey119: but what about other people? She hears other people calling us by our names all the time.

She calls me mama or by the first half of my name. She usually says mama when she wants something but if she sees me from a far or wants to find me she usually calls out to me by name. Silly girl. She doesn't really say too many words yet so maybe it will change once she starts talking more?

@Andrea: ohhhh. lol. i guess we'll make our friends call us umma and appa too then. kidding!
sounds like all kids go through a stage of calling their parents by their names. ::D

@looch: that's a good point. She also knows her full name now so I thought that was good in case she gets lost. That in combination with our names could be of some help.

It really surprised me the other day when DD mentioned my first name; I didn't think she knew it! She doesn't know DH's name, though sometimes she calls him "honey."

@andrea: OMG that's funny. I wonder if my son will do that too. That would be WEIRD though. hahaha

My youngest niece would call her mom Miss Erin for awhile. I'm guessing that's b/c that's what all of the neighborhood kids call her. It didn't last long.

My lo knows our names but knows better than to call us by them lol.

@Andrea: At least getting called by your name is better than being called sexy!! : )
My little cousin called his grandfather "Bob". He heard everyone else call him that so he started doing it too and it just stuck.

Since we call each other 'hon', LO sometimes calls out to my husband Honnnnnnnnn! He replies, No, I am Dad.

My husband and I call each other "amor," and our babe just picked up on that. He calls me "amoof" sometimes now. It's funny.
