When DD was younger I let her cry in her sleep because it didn't last long.
Now when she cries I go to her since she calls for me and I know she's up and needs hugs!

Up until she was about 18 months old, she would stand up in her crib and wail but from what I could tell it was either a dream or something else but not a real wake up because she would abruptly stop and fall asleep again.
