Our kids have been on and off on this front. Our son is 5 and he hasn't needed anyone in his room for a few years now! Tonight though, he really wanted one of us to stay in the room with him. I told him I'd be in there in 10 minutes, and he fell asleep while he was waiting for me.
Does your toddler+ like you to stay in the room while they fall asleep?

My son (3.5) likes to cuddle before I leave the room and has been very clingy when I try to go lately. One night recently he cried 
But I do try to make sure I always go within a reasonable period of time BEFORE he falls asleep to avoid setting up the expectation that I'll stay.

We do stay in the room for naps, but not at night. I don't know why it's okay with him (just turned 2 years), but it works for us, because it usually takes him 5-7 minutes to fall asleep for naps with us, but if we're in the room, it takes 45-an hour for him to fall asleep at night (usually 5-20 if we aren't in the room).

I don't think we've ever stayed in the room since we started putting her down drowsy-but-awake as an infant.

She listens to music so we stay sitting on a stool next to her for two songs.

I have no idea because we have never given her the option, to be honest. Its not an issue.

Only if she has a random MOTN wake up will we entertain it. Usually, no way as she would be up so much later if we stayed in the room!

She's still in a crib and I don't think she would ever fall asleep if I stayed I there. Maybe when she gets a bigger bed and I can lay down with her.

My DS can't fall asleep if someone is in the room - even from a very young age (5 weeks old). He likes to sleep alone.
