Lately, the LO will pretend like she doesn't know something and will say "I don't know" *pause* and then give the correct answer. Does your toddler do this? Are they just being silly or does it mean something else?

I ask Charlie if he pooped and he used to always say, "I don't know!"
How could you not know if you just pooped!!

Lala will change the subject if she doesn't know the answer. Like I'll ask "What comes after 39?" (She doesn't know 40 yet) and she'll respond, "Um kangaroos are really cute."
Yeah, honey, I'm on to you. You're changing the subject!

Sometimes DD says "I don't know" even when I know she knows the answer. Sometimes, we just have to wait her out and she'll answer cotrrectly, or sometimes I just remind her, "you know, it's ..."

I hung out with a toddler today that said she did know things when she didn't. In her world, she knows everything.

When I was little and my mom would ask me questions I didn't want to answer I would tell her "I can't know"
