my 3 year old lately has been talking about tons and tons of memories - no idea why! remember this, remember that..but the catch is that everything was "yesterday" even if it was last year - hah! makes me laugh.
does your little one understand past/present terms?

Nope. Everything in the past is yesterday and everything in the future is tomorrow. She has a general understanding of the days of the week and months of the year (can recite them in order) but she doesn't understand that Friday is three days from now. We went to a birthday party last weekend and I made the mistake of telling her "your birthday is the next party we'll go to!"..... she insisted that her party was happening RIGHT AFTER the other one

general senses of it... "later" "yesterday" "tomorrow" "I DID IT ALREADY!!!" "I DO THAT NOW".... and he'll def say memories from a long time ago, but no real concept of past/present/future I think yet!

Yes, everything happened yesterday or will be happening tomorrow! Except when we have previously corrected her that something happened a few weeks ago, or will be happening in a couple weeks. Then she'll parrot the phrase back to us, which is possibly even cuter: "we are going there in a coupla weeks, mama?"!!

My son is still too young (14 months), but from working in childcare for 10+ years, 3 years old is around the age they start understanding past and present tense. It's amazing what little brains can retain!

All the past is yesterday or last week or last night, mostly interchangeably except she doesn't use last night for something that happened in the daytime. She can kind of understand tomorrow vs the more distant future.

In a very immediate sense. She will say "A do it!" when she wants to do something herself, and then "A did it!" when she's done. But she doesn't really get today/tomorrow or longer spans of time yet.

Everything happened yesterday, or before. Everything will happen tomorrow, or during a tantrum "no 'moro!! I want it TODAY!"
