My LO occasionally will smack her own head. She just turned 1 and this probably started a week or two ago.
We don't hit so I don't know where she got this behavior from. Does your LO do this? Should I be worried?

When does she hit herself? Like, out of frustration? For fun (like, she thinks it's funny?)...

@Rubies: I think she thinks its funny. I gently remove her hand and say that we don't hit, and she generally stops. But it kind of worries me that she's hitting so hard!

My kids kind of tap themselves on the head with their palm, or do it to each other. Sometimes it's harder than others, but I think it's just exploration. They are about the same age. If it's aggressive, I intervene, but I'm not worried about it.

my LO does, to the sides of his head and his belly. it's always grinning at us while he does it, so I think he thinks it's funny. if he gets over zealous and starts smacking hard I grab his hands and say "be gentle!" and he either stops or softens at least! I wouldn't worry about it

My LO smacks her tummy for fun but her temper tantrums consist of her flinging her head back as fast as she can. Luckily, I have been there every time she has done this.
