Everyone always talks about the cost to have someone watch your kids - how about the cost to watch your pet?
I pay $15 for a 30 min visit - so $30 an hour - geesh!

We pay the neighbor girl about $10 a day. But he doesn't really need walking or anything. She just lets him outside in the morning and feeds him, and comes back at night to feed him again and let him inside.

@T.H.O.U.: ours doesn't either - she is old - she just lays around and we have a dog door so she lets herself in and out - I just like someone to check on her to keep her company and feed her

We don't have a dog, and haven't used a sitter for our cat for a few years (thanks, dad and mom!) but when we did it was $16 for a half hour visit.

$20 for an hour with the dog walker.
$35 for 8 hours of doggy day care
$45 for overnight boarding with the day care owner.
$35 overnight for the college kid down the street; two walks and overnight care.

@Mamaof2: Yea we've got it pretty good that the neighbors help us out. We have tried to offer more money to be comparable to what it would cost us to board him (because we would much prefer for him to be comfortable at home). But they said its way too much money for a pre-teen to earn. Also it helps that they are literally next door. So she can just walk over. There is no commute and she's old enough the parents dont have to accompany her.

We haven't had to do this yet but thanks for the post. Man, I want to be a dog sitter now!! Maybe LO can do that when she is a teen because she loves animals so much.
