Last night I was on my own for dog and baby duty. I carried M while I took our two dogs out on leash to do their business. We came back inside, I took my shoes off and prepared the dogs' meals. Meanwhile, I had put M down on the kitchen floor to explore.

I looked over the counter at one point to see M put something in her mouth and start chewing. There is nothing on the floor she should be eating!! I shoved my finger in her mouth and pulled out a little piece of a stick. I'm guessing it came in either on my shoes or with one of the dogs.

So, when you have babies and dogs and obviously the outdoors, how do you make sure your lo isn't finding things she shouldn't have and sticking them in her mouth? Obviously it was my fault that she found the stick piece and I feel horrible for it but how do we keep this from happening again? All I can think is what if I hadn't seen her put it in her mouth...
