We invited 40, 35 came. It was at home because we have large home. We made and cooked everything. I started pinning before she was born but real planning did not start until probably 1-2 months prior.

@mrsjyw: eeeeeeee!!! re: bean towers... allot A LOT! I set up a "station" in a big tray and worked on them in front of the TV every night for weeks. And weeks. The bigger the beans, the less time it will take. Get small beans to do the detail work and use bigger beans for the plain rest of the tower!

how far in advance did you start planning? When he turned 6 months I started on the crafting! I think we booked the venue when he was 8 months.
how many guests? Invited around 50 adults, around 30 came, with a good amount of kids
where did you have the party? chinese/japanese restaurant (lunch buffet) nearby
did you make/buy decor? a mix. I ended up buying a birthday banner and other decor pieces from an etsy seller because I made so much.
did you make/buy food? lunch buffet at the restaurant plus drinks. I ordered a cake from a local bakery (2 tiered fondant creation, so expensive).
what was your budget? We came in at just under a thou. We saved up the cash and put it aside so we knew exactly how much we had to spend. It was easy to stay under budget since we knew exactly how much the food and venue would come out to.

how many guests? Invited around 50 adults, the final headcount was 43 adults and 20 kids.
where did you have the party? clubhouse of a nearby apartment complex that our friends live in
did you make/buy decor? made almost everything, bought a few things from Oriental Trading Company
did you make/buy food? my mom made all the food. She's insane. She's like a caterer. They paid for most of the ingredients. I ended up running out for a few platters from Costco just in case we ran out of food. We didn't! Also, we ordered her cake from a different bakery, another 2 tiered fondant creation, so expensive. I also did a sweets table and made almost everything.
what was your budget? Still counting it up. Way more than Wagon Jr.'s but we expected that...!! It's a really good thing we saved up.
