I'm considering donating my plasma, but wanted to see if anyone had anything negative to say about it.
I'm concerned about my ability to chase and carry toddlers after an appointment. Anyone have a story to share?

I did it in college...I was incredibly poor. The more
You donate the more $ you make. I didn't even do it that much because my arms looked so bad. I'll never forget how mad DH got when he saw I was doing it--this was over 10 years ago. My veins collapsed causing my arms to be bruised from elbow to wrist. It looked awful but didn't hurt. I did make me a little tired and I was a young sprite back then!

My husband did it for a little over a month. He says it's easy, but feels weird. Especially the cold saline they put in at the end. He was a bit sluggish for a little bit after the draw, but nothing serious. Here, you can make $220/mo for 2x week draws! It takes over an hour a session, usually.

I donated several times to the red cross. I never felt too drained or tired after donating before, but I was in my early twenties then. I wouldn't do it now in my mid thirties with an active toddler and baby on the way.

My husband works in the industry so if you have any other specific questions, I can answer.
It effects everyone differently, so you could feel more tired but it might not effect you at all. For a small number of people, it makes people nauseous. I never felt differently afterwards. Make sure to stay hydrated. It makes you feel better and you donate quicker.
Most centers offer a bonus if you donate twice a week. ($20 first donation, $30 second donation).
Do NOT lie when they ask you the screening questions (esp. regarding tattoos). If they find out you lied, you get banned from donating anywhere.

@allison: that's what they offer here. I'm hoping I can make that happen.
@TemperanceBrennan: thank you! I'm glad I asked.

Check the Yelp reviews for the place you want to donate at. I was just browsing Yelp and I saw some reviews for a plasma donation site locally and they were kind of bad. Lots of sketchy people hang out around there and there have been muggings and stuff.
