Hello all! My friend’s 3 year old came home acting 100% normal today but with about ten of these (bites?) on her back, legs, and cheeks. Any guesses? No pain, no itching. Could it be a virus or bacteria or do we think spider or other insect bites? TIA!

The only other thing I can think of is a reaction to spray-on sunscreen? The "rawest" areas are the "direct hit" areas? My kids have reacted to spray sunscreen when we get toward the bottom of the bottle and there is more propellant coming out with the sunscreen.
It's really odd to me that there is no pain/itching, though. Sorry I'm not more helpful!

Not sure, but did the LO fall and skid on that spot? DS came home from day care with some nasty-looking skid marks a few times, they kind of looked like that. He never had any clue where they came from, so apparently they didn't hurt.

I'd have her check the soles of her feet/palms of her hands to see if there are any there - it could be HFM but they look kind of big for that!

@HappyBaker: Yes good thought! She’s had HFM twice before though and it presented differently.
Anyone ever hear of cellulitis?? We are thinking maybe that? It’s a skin infection due to a trauma or bug bite...

@wrkbrk: if it is getting worse and you are thinking cellulitis I would get to a doc, urgent care or ER ASAP. I wouldn’t mess around with that. Antibiotics would be needed.

@Canoli: yes! She does have an appt in the morning i think. This is my friend’s Child btw not mine. Has your child had that before??

@wrkbrk: no but I work in a hospital and see it a lot. Definitely something I would more urgently take care of in a child. But full disclosure I am a complete worrier when it comes to my kids health.

@wrkbrk: cellulitis is an infection from bacteria getting in a tiny scratch or scrape so the area would be warm to the touch. It would probably be localized to one area. DH has had it before due to poor circulation in his leg.
