Do you prefer drapes or blinds?
I personally prefer the thick wood blinds but they're SO expensive 
I could totally make drapes work if budget were the issue (which it always is) or if we had a house to put drapes/blinds in..Hahahaha not that I'm bitter;)

We have crappy plastic blinds hiding under our drapes on all the windows except for our bedroom where I have light blocking shades under the curtains. We live in a rental though, so I didn't want to take all the blinds down & have to put them back up when we leave, so I just put curtains over.

I think drapes definitely look better. Another inexpensive alternative to blinds are those roller shades. You can do those under drapes and roll them up (out of sight) during the day, and pull down at night. I think they look better than blinds, unless they're the expensive kind of blinds.

I bought faux because they truly looked real to me. Saved 100s of dollars!
If I can't do wooden blinds then I do drapes, but I like them to be sheer and flowy and allow light in.

Depends on the room. We have black out lined drapes in some rooms and plantation shutters in others.

I prefer curtains. They're more warm and homey to me. And you can always change them up easily for totally different look to the room! And they're easier to take down and throw in the wash than to dust every last blind.

I like both! We have blinds and curtains on all the "done" rooms in our house. I think it gives it a more finished look.

We have a mix of faux wood and real wood blinds in our home. I love them! We've also got curtains over them in two rooms (still searching for the perfect living room curtains) and faux roman shades in the kitchen windows.

Drapes look better. But blinds are a must in our area, in my opinion, to help block out heat in the summer. I don't mind the look of curtains over blinds tho. Plantation shutters look really nice too.

@babyjmama: we currently have naked windows. But I need to buckle up and buy window coverings. I want to do faux wood blinds ( I found best price via Wayfair!!!) and sheer curtains.

We have roller shades, but only use them at night to keep things dark. During the day they are always rolled all the way up. Our windows are very tall, so it would have cost a fortune to buy curtains. I also don't really like curtains and I loathe mini blinds.

I like blinds...I only like really expensive curtains (I found this out after drilling into the dry wall to hang cheap curtains lol)

I like both. I think blinds are a necessity unless you want your neighbors to see you naked. I think curtains are pretty and much more aesthetically pleasing.

We have blinds that are in between the glass panes, so I never have to dust!! *happy dance*
Although, ideally I would have naked windows with no neighbors and no bad sun glares.

We have plantation shutters in our entire house except for our sliding door. I got drapes in euro pleads. That's what the lady told me they were, shrugging shoulders.
Shop around for plantation shutters, we have over 30 windows in our home and found a family owned business that made the shutters locally for about 5k. They used real basswood (apparently the best kind of wood for shutters) too and let us tour the factory.
