Would it be lame to have LO 2 wear the same dress that LO 1 wore for her first bday?
The colors for the party are orange and pinks.
My BFF says totally lame and I should buy LO 2 a new dress because she wears handmedowns all the time!

I think it's a super cute dress so we not reuse it!

Has the dress been worn frequently, like looks like a not new dress anymore? Or was it just worn once for the occasion?

@T.H.O.U.: I think worn 3-4 times. One tiny stain on the back!

Haha! Cute dress! But I agree with your bestie...I think she should have her own new dress!

Oh it's no biggy! I think people put too much pressure on having new clothes for every occasion these days. Back in the day people didn't have the ability to have new outfits as often as we are able to. Keep her in the dress DD1 wore, it's ADORABLE!

I think it's sweet!
My poor son is probably not getting a special new outfit for his birthday - the horror!

That dress is super cute! I would totally use it. My LO wore her baptism dress to her first bday party! I'm a big fan of getting as much use as possible out of clothes!

The only reason I'd say get a new dress is if your kids look a lot alike. Trying to figure who is who without looking at the dates of pictures is tricky in my fam. My sisters are more than five years apart but look almost identical in pics.

As a mom, I say do it! It's super cute and a fun tradition. As the youngest of two children, when I looked back at pictures, I'm sure I'd say to my mom, "geez, couldn't even get me my own first birthday dress??" But bet your lo2 is a lot less sassier than I was!

My first instinct was to say new dress because they do look a lot alike. So looking back, it might be hard to tell if it's DD1 or DD2 via pics. But it would be a cute tradition so I think it would be cool reuse as well if that is what you decide!

If it were any other birthday I would say reuse but I think her first birthday should have her own dress. Maybe this dress could be used for Easter or Mother's Day? Or any other special occasion?

Part of me says new dress for sure because it would make a great keepsake for each little girl.
The other part says wearing the same dress is a sweet memory for mom and dad, plus there will be other keepsakes from the party. Each girl will have her own invitation to cherish for instance.
The dress could be turned into a keepsake for both. One of the quilts made from pieces of dresses, t-shirts, uniforms, costumes, and blankets through out a child's life.

As an adult, I would want at least one article of clothing, so I say new!

I vote new dress too! My girls looked a only a little similar during their 1st year, and looking back at pics, I'm surprised I still sometimes have trouble recognizing who's who.
I also loved DD1's 1st Bday dress and wanted her to have it as a keepsake in the future, so got a new one for DD2 to do the same as well.
Plus, it's not like there is a shortage of cute dresses out there! A huge majority of her clothes are hand-me-downs anyway... I love an excuse to buy her something new and different.

I vote new dress
As a pp said, you could definitely use this dress for another special occasion, and I think the first birthday warrants a brand new dress for each girl. But, I do also think it's sweet that you want to have this tradition...are there other little girls in the family who could wear the Birthday Dress? That might sway me more...PS it's an absolutely adorable dress!

@autumnlove: I vote new dress. Since she wears hand-me-downs a lot I think she deserves a new party dress
I like this one from Carter's!

I vote new dress!! I think first bday is a special occasion and LO2 deserves her own special dress, since most of her clothes all are used.

I vote new dress especially since she wears a lot of hand me downs. Everyone deserves a new outfit for their birthday!

I vote new dress because it's her very first birthday! Turning one is such a big milestone for many cultures and deserves a new dress. She can wear that for another occasion.

I think LO #2 should have her own dress. Looking back at photos she might not think it's a cute tradition. It's a chance to make her feel special with a new dress that's just her own.

What do you guys think of these? Some are Carter's, some are Target!

@autumnlove: those are all cute!! I really like the first one. And not just R is wearing the teal one for Easter.

I don't like the pineapple one or the white eyelet one. I mean I do, but not for a party.
I love the striped, the lace, the polka dot and the white with pink ribbon.

I love the pineapple dress, the white eyelet one, and the coral with white ribbon. SO cute!

@lawbee11: I bought that for my DD over the weekend. The color is really bold and vibrant, really cute!

New dress for sure! It's not just any party, it's *her* party!

@NurseMommy: @Kimberlybee: @CupQuakeWalk: @Smurfette: Stripes is sold out at the local store and on the website!

@autumnlove: Boo!!
R got the last dress for her birthday, and it is more coral then pink or orange. So I don't think it is what you are looking for.
