When did you start putting LO down drowsy-but-awake, rather than all the way asleep? Was it different for nighttime vs. naps? Thank you!!

We do a yawn/eye rubbing count, usually 3, then we start the nap/bedtime routine of sleepsack, pacifier, 2-3 board books, and then bed. It's usually about an hour/1.5 hours after his last wakeup. It's hard to stretch him to 2 hours these days.

I wasn't able to do it until about the 3.5 month mark when she found her fingers to self-soothe.

We didn't start trying it until he was maybe 4-4.5 months. It's taken time and we're still working on it. He's 5.5 months now and it seems to work for most naps but nighttime sleep we still put him down completely asleep.

We started at 3 weeks (almost 8 weeks now). I swaddle her, give her a paci, turn on white noise and a lullaby and leave her to fall asleep on her own. She never cries but we usually have to put the paci back in a few times. She falls asleep within 20 minutes typically.

We had great luck from newborn-1.5 months and thought we were sleep all stars. Then it devolved and we were fighting him to sleep at all then putting him down sound asleep and at 3.5 months things were peaceful enough to work on drowsy but awake again. It took three weeks or so and he can now go down for night wide awake and fall asleep usually. Naps are definitely much harder for us and were still working on it.
