Does anyone use dry shampoo? If so which brand do you recommend? How much longer can you go without washing your hair when using dry shampoo?

I use Dove. I wash every other day, but I couldn't do that without dry shampoo and I have to wear it back in a pony. I can go 3 days but it isn't pretty, so I will do it on rare occasions.

I use tresemme and just bought another brand (can't remember!). Basically just drug store brands... I tried Sephora's Oscar Brandi one and didn't really think they're all that different.
I try to last 2-3 days between hair wash and I have super fine/greasy hair. I use it on day 2 and 3, I find that it does help absorb some of the grease so my hair does not appear so terrible.

I use treseme. I want to try a powder one, so if anyone has a rec, let me know. I can go up to a week without washing sometimes if I use dry shampoo! My hair is very thick and dry...

@snowjewelz: @mrs. tictactoe: @Smurfette: where do you find dry shampoo? If it's not powder then what form is the shampoo in? Does dry just refer to no rinsing?
I need to "sit month" soon and need products to help lengthen in between shampoos!!! It'll be at least two weeks before I can convince my mom to let me wash my hair.....

@locavore_mama: Can I ask what a sit month is?
@Smurfette: @snowjewelz: @mrs. tictactoe: are they in hairspray aerosol type cans?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@locavore_mama: Target/CVS/etc! A bunch of brands make them now. I just can't for the life of me remember the new ones I bought. All the ones I've used is a powder/mist? If you don't shake well you do see the white powder on your head (I've done that before, just brushed hair later and it was fine).
You literally spray it on your head and whatever's in it helps absorb the grease so your hair appears a little closer to you having washed it vs shiny nastiness.
It's not a miracle product but I use it all the time b/c it does help w/ the situation. Without it I don't think I want to go out with 3rd day hair, ever!
ETA: The new ones I bought is Suave I think. Pantene, Dove, Herbal all make them!

@Bao: Yup. You're supposed to shake it vigorously so the white stuff doesn't appear on your head

@locavore_mama: @Bao: aerosol cans. You just shake and spray, then run in the hair. I get mine at Target in the dove section with the shampoo. A lot of times Target has them on sale and then if you buy 3 you get a $5 gift card.

I think Dove does a decent job. It does smell really strong though. Tresemme made my hair look like an oil slick.

@locavore_mama: @Bao: yes, it's like hairspray, but not wet. Very strange.

I've used suave and tresseme. Both we're good. I usually go two days between washes, but it took me a while to build up to that. One trick is to spray the dry shampoo on before bed and then all the tossing and turning really rubs it in and gets rid of the powdery look!

If I ever use dry shampoo, the only one I like is Evo Water Killer.

I only found it recently. I tried it out once when I knew I wouldn't be seeing DH for days. If I don't work out to break a sweat, I can use it for 3 days without washing my hair. But I start to gross myself out and DH doesn't like "dirty" hair. So I mostly just use it for a one day wash skip because I'm running short on time.

I use Psst and usually go 2-3 days between washes. The key is to shake it really well and use more than you think you need.

I use Dove and I like it especially for the price. And I like that I can just get it at my regular drug store. I can go 3 days easy without washing my hair. I used to have to wash every day. Then everyday other day was a stretch. But now 3 days is easy and I can go 4 if I'm feeling lazy. I just wear it up the 4th day. I love not having to wash and blow out my hair everyday...makes getting ready so much faster/easier!

I use fat hair. I do my hair after a shower. The next day I can not do anything. The third day I can dry shampoo and do a bun or pony. Then day 4 wash again.

My hair girl recommended Suave, it's like a mousse. I don't use it often, but can extend it by 2-3 days if I do.

My only complaint with dry shampoo has been that the nozzle gets clogged before I get a lot of uses out of the aerosol cans.
I finally found one that isn't aerosol and is AMAZING!
You shake the bottle and then squeeze and it puffs out. I love it!

I find that treseme makes me hair feel greasy.
Batiste is the best I have found.
And for texture, I love Oribe Dry.

I have one from Revlon that I bought at the salon and it's pretty good. I can go every other day without washing if I use it.

I have fine hair, wash it every other day, and use Batiste {for dark hair in the aerosol can} on non-washing days. I it. I tried Tresemme's version, but didn't care for it.

I swear by Batisste (favorite scent being Fresh, Cool & Crisp)! No lie, I go through a bottle every month at LEAST. I have a pretty greasy scalp and I can't go every other day unless I use dry shampoo. I found Dove to be too heavily scented, Tresseme didn't do anything for me. The only other one I like is the Invisible Dry Shampoo by Salon Grafix. The one thing I don't like about Batisste is the white residue. It comes out with brushing.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: was just going to suggest Oribe. Loveeee it! But it can get pricey.

I also just use dove. It makes it so I don't have to wash my hair often, even though I work out a lot. It's awesome! But I don't love the way they all smell

I use Dove. I like it but I think the scent is too strong. I will try a different brand next.

@rachiecakes: I'm going to have to look into this one! I tried a sample of pret a powder by Bumble and Bumble and it was awesome, but the applicator sucked so I will check this out next.
I'm currently using Batiste and it's surprisingly good. The scent is not overbearing like Dove is. I used to use Oscar Blandi and it was good but heavy scented as well. I most recently tried Oscar Blandi Invisible and it was not nearly as effective as the original. I go 3-4 days without a wash using dry shampoo.

I use bumble and bumble. I'll use it even on freshly washed hair to give it more texture. Then I reapply each day. I can easily go three days if I don't work out.

Batiste is my absolute favorite and I can always find it pretty cheap at Marshall's or TJ Maxx.

I use dove, the only other option I can find at th drug stores around here are tresemme and I really hated how that made my hair feel. I spray it on, and then give my hair a quick blast with the blow dryer, works great!

I use Biosilk...it smells sooooo good. I can go for probably 5-6 days without a hair wash!
