He's been in the PNP next to our bed and tonight is his first night in his own room. I'm a wreck. It makes me really sad and I'm worried I'm not going to hear him on the monitor. How did y'all get through the first few nights?

That's what we're doing tonight too.
No advice to offer, just solidarity.

I pretty much stared at the monitor all night. I kept the monitor beside me with the volume as high as it can go and woke up to check in it every hour or so.
It gets much easier! (It took several weeks for me to be comfortable with it, but I was super paranoid).

He slept much better the first night than I did! I kept the picture on the video monitor all night and looked at it all the time. It really did get better after a couple nights.

Sadie's been napping in her crib for a while, but we just decided to put her in there for night time sleep for the first time last night. It was awful. I was up until 1am watching the monitor, I finally fell asleep, and then she woke up at 1:30. I just went and got her & put her back in the RNP beside my bed! haha She's in her crib now, and I'm hoping tonight is a little easier!!

I was basically just like @FutureMrsMcK. I was crazy paranoid and spent most of the time staring at the monitor with it right by my head turned up as high as it could go. I was a mess. I think after about a week though it improved a lot!

Aww, it will be ok!
I miss J when she's in her room, but the pedi really thought she'd sleep better there, so I made the switch around four months. However, I often cheat and let her stay in bed with me after her 3am nursing session so I don't wake her up transferring her and so I can cuddle with her. I probably should stop, so I'm weaning myself from it - slowly.

He woke up twice in the first 2 hours, but then slept until 3:30! He got up for the day at 7:45. I was up all night though. Our monitor apparently is very sensitive and DS moves around a lot in his sleep. I woke up at every sound.

@boiledpnut: so exciting! I want to start trying DS in his crib but I'm not strong enough yet.
