Tonight is a big night, our LOs first night in crib. He's almost 4 months, so time to move into his big boy crib! Any advice on how to do this? Wish us luck!!

Good luck! I have no advice though--we didn't have anything else for him to sleep in.

awww!! I remember being SO sad the first night he slept in his crib, he was 3.5 months and I MISSED him sooo badly that when he woke up for his morning feeding around 4-5am I let him sleep with us haha It took about a month for me to get over it and sometimes I still miss him lol
good luck!!
for us - DS actually slept better in his crib than with us, so there was little that WE had to do.

I agree with CocoBee! DD slept so much better in her own room. I was so reluctant but then around 4 months when she had been sleeping through the night for awhile I was SO READY to have my bedroom and husband back

Ooh, we did that just last night...at almost 6 months. It was more of a we had to clean his carpet issue than anything. Haha! He did well. Cried for 10 mins and went to sleep. Yay. We'll see about tonight.

Good luck! We also transferred our daughter to the crib just after 4 months. I was worried how it would go, but in the end I slept better that night than I had in a long, long time! (I did, and still do sleep with the baby monitor turned on right next to my side of the bed b/c that makes me feel more comfortable. I guess some day I'll have to let go of this habit...)

Update- Its 7:30 am and he's still sleeping! He had two quick wake ups to eat, one at midnight and the other at 4 am. He went right back to sleep in his crib after each feed.

@krsmall: That's great! I was just going to chime in to say that we moved LO into her crib around the 3.5 month mark and she transitioned really well. As others have noted, I think it's sometimes harder on us to let them go
Then again, sleep tends to come much easier when you finally have your bedroom back and baby-free!

Yay! But how much did YOU sleep? I didn't sleep much the night we put her in her crib.

@mediagirl: I barely slept. I kept waking up to check his monitor and then I'd still go in the nursery just to make sure the monitor was working correctly.

Glad he slept well! I was also very terrified when my LO slept in her crib for the first time, but it ended up being so much better for everyone. She's such a light sleeper, and so is DH, so with everyone in the same room we would all wake each other up. Now everyone sleeps much more soundly.

@krsmall: He's doing so great - that is wonderful! We just made the transition this week and it was definitely tougher on me. I'm also working on getting her to fall asleep on her own in the crib, and it's going pretty well. She slept from 8pm until 4am last night!! Other nights she does wake up earlier, but I'm hoping we'll continue these longer stretches.

@chrispygal: That's the same length of sleep he has gotten the past 2 nights. We have him in bed by 8 pm and he wakes up at 4 am. I wish he'd sleep 1 hour longer since I wake up for work around 5. He really loves the crib, he sleeps all stretched out. Hopefully we will both be getting longer sleep stretches soon!

@krsmall: great job! Sounds like he's doing great in his crib! When we first switched DS to crib at 4 months he would only sleep in it for 3 hours and never would go back down in it after eating, here we are at 5 months sleep training!
