I know there have been lots of posts about early morning wakeups, but I was hoping to share the details of our specific situation in order to tap into the wealth of problem solving here on the bee.
DS is 12 months old. Lately he has been waking up earlier and earlier. Today was 5am, over the weekend and last week it was 5:30. He's kinda cranky in the morning and perks up after his first nap. Usual wake up is 6, which I am ok with since that is when we get up.
Bed time has been the same, 7pm. No issues there. He has been waking up once between 3:30 and 4, I nurse him (he doesn't actually get much, my supply is almost gone) and he goes back to sleep for an hour or two. I'd love to get rid of this wake up too if you have ideas.
The things that are different:
At long last, his two naps are now 1-1.5 hours instead of 45 minutes. So he is sleeping 10-10.5 hours at night at 2-2.5 hours during the day. He is teething, but it hasn't impacted naps or most of the night sleep. We transitioned to WCM, but he hasn't had any issues with it. He is still nursing a little at bed time and then we top him off with a bottle of WCM.
Is he sleeping too much during the day now? If so, do I go to one nap even though he isn't fighting either nap?
Should I try and move bedtime later?
Or is this just a phase?
Often we bring him in our bed and try to cuddle and get him to go back to sleep - he then sits up, pokes us, starts chatting, climbs out of bed and starts pulling things off of my night stand. Other times one of us will go into his room and hold him in the glider, sometimes he'll fall back to sleep (and sometimes we can doze off too). It's been going on for a few weeks now.
Hang in there momma!
