Ok so I am almost 20 weeks into my first pregnancy, I have a few friends who have recently had babies & I'm curious about the vast differences in their early parenthood experiences. I have a close friend who has a 'dream baby' who has slept very well from the beginning & at 11 weeks is awake for 15 mins during the night for one feed. Her baby cries very little, can be settled easily & is content to sit or lay even while awake requiring very little attention. As you can imagine this friend is thriving & is loving motherhood, she insists there is no secret & that she has just been very lucky to be blessed with an easy going baby.
Two other close friends have had a very different experience and are generally feeling overwhelmed & exhausted. Their babies require a lot of attention, cry often & are up several times during the night. I'm guessing this is more the 'norm'.
I am curious to get others opinions on this is. Is there a knack to an easy early parenthood journey or is it just pure luck?
I agree with @Cherrybee: though that attitude plays a major part in it...along with your expectations!
Of course no matter how easy the baby, there are hard parts. There are long nights, worries, stress... in those moments, it's how you handle it. Relax and follow your gut!
