Do you let your lo eat in the car seat?

We do....but I wish we never had. Our seats are a mess and they always want to eat on the car now, even for very short car rides.

Yes, there is no time in the morning and they will get a bowl of cereal at home and something car friendly in the car. They both also immediately need a snack in the car at pickup despite eating a afternoon snack at daycare.
The car seats are a mess but I don't care. They're hungry!

Yes. Her seat is so gross, but she's happy. I need to brush the crumbs out of it and probably wash it soon.

On long trips (we usually go around nap time) we will give him a small snack when he wakes up.

Yes, all the time! If he's alone back there I make sure its not something that is a choking hazard since I'm not right there to monitor how much he stuffs into his mouth (21 mnths old)

I have a no eating in the car rule unless we're on a long road trip and I'm back there with her. Mostly due to choking concerns.

Yeah, but mostly just cereal or goldfish - things that can be easily swept/vacuumed out.

I am way too paranoid about choking and I am super anal about car cleanliness, so we almost never allow it. Once in a blue (like once every 2-3 months) I will let DD have a trader joes fruit bar (which is like a flat 1" x 3" fruit roll up type snack). She loves them and will devour them instantly, so there aren't any crumbs or pieces laying around afterwards.

Almost exclusively no, due to choking concerns. If we are out as a family or on a road trip and she needs to eat, we only allow it if one of us is sitting in the back with her.

Yes. I try to make sure and do non messy things- no milk ever, rarely pouches. It's sort of messy but not too bad. Often I give her something if it's getting close to nap time and I need to make sure she stays awake.

Yes. However I wish I had never let my little guy eat in his. He is a very messy eater and his seat is so gross.
My older guy is super clean and his seat is mostly clean.

No, we don't drive that much and I am kind of strict about eating only at the table/mealtimes.

Uh yeah. How else do you keep toddlers happy in the car?!

@winniebee: Frozen
We do sometimes on the weekend. We tend to run around a lot do I'll give him a snack cup full of Cheerios and raisins, or some peanut butter crackers split into pieces. His seat isn't too bad.

Never. The choking risk scares me. She can drink all she wants back there.

@Foodnerd81: lol that's why we do it too. I've totally made space in the budget in order to grab some fast food after church juts to keep DD awake!

We do dry neat snacks like puffs, rice cakes, and water. Sometimes he gets some clementine segments. DS has a car seat mirror I can look at him with.

Just dry stuff like crackers or muesli bars, and only water. I'm currently trying to reduce the a,punt of food that gets eaten on short trips unless I know she's definitely hungry!
persimmon / 1467 posts
Yep. He's pretty grumpy if he doesn't get his meals and snacks at the right time. I usually just give him a snack if it is snack time or start his lunch if we are driving home at lunch time (it also helps him stay awake when it is too close to nap time).

Yeah. He has a waffle and applesauce pouch on the way to school and a few pretzels on the way home.
