I would wait till they were older but I don't plan on sharing it with them. The risk is to high between both the flour and eggs. I do let my two year old lick the frosting spoon.

There are recipes though for edible cookie dough you could share.

I offered but DS won't even consider it lol. I, on the other hand, licked these things and I am glad I haven't gotten sick yet. To be fair I usually bake with oat flour or almond flour...

Maybe this makes me a bad mom but I'm pretty sure I let my daughter have a little last year around Christmas (she was 1.5)

Considering they sell edible cookie dough at the grocery store by my house, I'd do that if he was interested (the flour is heat treated).

We bake with the already portioned cookies so there’s nothing left over to taste. LO has been introduced to Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream. He has no idea it’s “raw” cookie dough and loves it.

I bake a ton and eat lots of raw cookie dough, cake batter, bread dough, etc. Luckily I’ve never been sick, and to be honest I don’t know anyone who has ever been sick from raw dough! I don’t doubt it happens and of course there’s a risk, but there’s a risk eating almost anything (including produce) raw.

I’ve given my 1 year old a small lick of cookie dough once. I’m sure it will happen more and more as he grows. I don’t think I can be hypocritical and tell him no as I eat a spoonful. Everyone has their own comfort level though.

I used to eat cookie dough by the spoonful but I work in public health and know too much now. I'm not CRAZY about food safety, but am careful about storage, handling, and cooking to the right temp. I will give them just about anything cooked appropriately, but no reason to do the cookie dough.

There is a recipe for edible cookie dough using chickpeas though... I'll see if I can find!

I was sick on Monday and I'm pretty sure it's from the raw cookie dough I ate over the weekend That is the only thing I ate differently than the rest of my family. We made chocolate chip cookies and I ate a couple small bites. Thankfully my son that was helping me didn't want a bite!

@LadyDi: I remember rubbing my very pregnant belly and telling my baby that I hoped she understood how much I loved her by not eating the cookie dough.

Echoing others that I don’t go overboard but I let them have a taste. I probably started around 3 or 4 with my first, but I know my younger daughter has tried it and she turns 3 next month. If even lettuce isn’t safe, you may as well enjoy the cookie dough and cake batter.

I let my 4 year old and 2 year old lick the spoon. At some point, I have to let them be kids! And that's one of my favorite memories of baking with my mom when I was younger.

I let my kids eat it, and lick the beaters of any banana bread, and we all love raw pizza dough. I make pizza every week and we eat raw pizza dough every time. So yeasty and delicious!
