So...some background:

K was born Sept 2013 - we EBF from day 1. She had a solid latch and gained nicely. She's petite so early on our Ped requested I nurse religiously every 2 hours (daytime) so I could let her sleep at night. No issues.

First bottle introduced at about 5 weeks - took it like a champ. From then - we did bottles as needed...but no regime of a bottle a day or anything.

I went back to work at 12 weeks PP - nursed in the AM, immediately upon coming home (5:30pm) and again before bed. Plus - I think we were still doing 1 MOTN feed at that point.

Not long after I went back to work K started crying hysterically during her 5:30pm sessions - my friend suggested it may be frustration with the quickness of the bottles during the day and then the first nursing session...we were not having issues at bed time or other times at this point.

Shortly after going back to work I added a pumping session 1 hour before DD woke up 1) to relief my poor boobs and 2) to add to supply.

At the end of the day....by 4.5 months K had completely abandoned nursing...and by 5 months would not even drink breast milk (bye bye 60oz freezer stash).

I am due with #2 in March...I'd like things to go better this time! I'd really like to get to 6 months. Ultimately - I want to do what is comfortable to her and I - I dont mind supplementing or bottle feeding at all. I am not so obsessed with EBF that I want to make it a miserable experience.

Wondering if any of you experts out there can see an error in my ways with K that I can maybe correct with #2? Bottle sooner/more frequent? Pump more (I did not start pumping regularly until 9-10 w PP)? Did I just need to push through that rough patch when I first went back to work? Did I give up to soon?

I'm open to input!
