do you take extra vit d vitamins or use vit d drops?
i didn't even hear about the drops or vit d deficiency until our 2 month well check, after a day of fussiness on the poly-vi-sol crap, i HB'ed and got some of the carlson vit d drops for babies and use those once a day.

I take Vit D capsules - and LO takes the D-Vi-Sol (or whatever its called) -- he loves it! actually, i just realized I haven't give him his drops in a few days - oops. He must like the sweetness of it.

I use Carlson's as well, although I'm really bad and only remember to give it to him like 1-2 times a week. I try to get us outside in the sun as often as possible, though.
ETA: My post-natal vitamin has a healthy dose of Vitamin D3 in it.

We use baby d drops. I just put a drop on my nipple before breastfeeding. Now i just drop it into her mouth.

DS takes the Enfamil D-Vi-Sol drops. I think I'm supposed to start giving him the ones with iron now too. I don't take any, but probably should. He's not a fan of the drops. My Dh gives it to him after his bath every night. He gets pleasure out of the face he makes after drinking it. lol

We got them recommended to us by the pediatrician but I never really gave them to her because it was such a hassle! I probably should try again though.

I didn't he has had many blood test and there has never been a problem. I personally don't believe in giving things that aren't needed. He gets lots of different foods.

We use Carlsons too. Ped told me to use poly vi sol at 4m but...I'm a rebel & don't. Also, LO projectile vomits it

No, we didnt use any. Her pedi had me take 6000IUs a day of vitamin D and said enough would pass through my BM to give to her

I take a supplement and she gets a drop as well. Our ped cautions against any direct sun exposure before six months so drops it is.

i wasn't religious about it when olive was younger, but have been giving her carlson drops in the winter since we need more vit d then.

LO took tri-vi-sol plus an iron supplement and now takes poly-vi-sol. Aside from being anemic from 6-12 months his bloodwork has been fine.
I didn't take any until we learned I was deficient, then I was on 50000 IU/week for awhile. I almost wasn't able to take it because of it being made with soy oil and with LO's allergies the pharmacy wouldn't give it to me (it's also a high dose). I had to contact his allergist, pedi, LLLI, and our local LC's before I could get it.

Carlson's for us too! If we spend a lot of time outdoors, I won't give her the Vit D.

I couldn't believe my pedi recommended the poly vi sol after it's full of artificial color and flavor!!! I'm switching to Carlson's.

wow, i feel like an idiot- i didnt even know i was supposed to give LO vit d drops and i havent been taking any vit d either! her ped never said anything like this to me....I will be asking at her 4 month appt...

We stopped giving the drops when we started giving her solid foods. Probably not my best parenting move ever but, oh well.

I just asked the ped at H's 6 month check-up after reading about it here & talking to other friends. She apologized for not bringing it up at the 4 month appt and told me to start giving them!

I gave LO di-vi-sol when she was EBF. I also had to take it during pregnancy due to a deficiency and I was told by my doctor then that Vitamin D isn't passed from mother to baby and that's why they recommend the drops now. She told me this because I asked if I should continue taking my supplement while giving her the drops to make sure she didn't get too much.

vitamin D is not excreted in breastmilk so you have to give your baby a supplement (400 IU daily)

I gave DD the Carlson Vit D drops daily until I started her on cows milk which is fortified with Vit D. She seems to like her "drop time" before bed. I've never tried the Tri-Vi-Sol though.

We give DS Tri-Vi-Sol while we give him a bath. I like the idea of the one drop ones but he LOVES the Tri-Vi-Sol. In fact, we're running out and he seems to get mad if we don't give him his vitamins. Need to get more.

We put the Carlson's drops in either her bottle or in her puree. Either way, she gets a drop every day! Our pedi told us to start at our 1 month appointment.

We started off using the D-Vi-Sol ones that were prescribed by our pediatrician but LO would spit it out and it smelled gross to us to... we've just switched to the Carlson ones - much better!
