What do you do for your LO's eczema? My son has had it terribly since an infant and I feel like we have tried everything. Lately DD has gotten super patchy and I'm so sad, I thought we were off the hook with it for her since she's 2 and hasn't had any signs of it until recently.
We see a derm this week though!

My friends daughter had it really bad and they got her tested, turns out she is allergic to their couch. Could it be something like that?

@Smurfette: I think anything is possible! DS first started showing signs when he was 9 weeks old. DD just started showing signs recently--but additionally has been breaking out into hives. I'm thinking allergy testing might benefit them both unfortunately.

We use aveeno excema cream. I use it too and it works really well if you apply it consistently. I like that it isnt greasy like aquaphor and some of the others. It absorbs in relaly well.

We're just starting to deal with this, my son broke out about a month ago. We got a prescription cream that helped and now trying to be vigilant with moisturizer to keep it at bay. We've been using Eucerin.

When ds has a flare up we mix a pea sized drop of hydrocortisone into a quarter sized amount of cetaphil several times a day. When there are no flare ups we just lather on the cetaphil.

Dd2 was just diagnosed at 6 months old 
she was red, scaly, and patchy all over her face, and her sores were "weeping", which our ped said was a sign of infection. I hated having to get a prescription topical steroid cream, but in one application, it cleared right up! Our ped said to use the steriod during flare ups only and during the other times, we alternate lathering her with either vanicream or cerave.

We've been dealing with eczema here too. We do three things. For one we tried identifying triggers - it's allergies for us, more specifically the main culprit is citrus fruits. Two we try to keep the skin moisturized. We actually rotate through a couple of moisturizers which works for us. Three if it flares up bad we have a paste that our ped prescribed that is a mix of different cremes/ointments.
Hopefully you'll find some answers through getting them tested. 
Eczema really sucks.

as advised by our allergist--steroid creams for flares & lots of vanicream daily. my infant daughter's isn't bad and has needed the cream maybe 5-10 times ever. my 3 year old son's has been bad since birth & around a year old he actually had to do some antihistamines to get allergies under control in conjunction with the creams. derm trip should be helpful but I would do the allergist as well if you can! ours is our favorite doctor and so helpful.

We are Vanicream evangelists too! Twice a day (three times a day during flare ups) changed everything for us. We can't really use hydrocortisone too much. It causes hyperpigmentation for my LO.

I recently started using Hemp Oil on my own eczema because a friend used it on her and her daughter with amazing results, and I've seen such a difference in just a week. I am also a fan of Vanicream - I use it on both kids.

This looks exactly like my daughter! we use:
1. Pure haven Essential's Dream Cream in the mornings
2. Vanicream after baths/before bed
3. bad flare ups we use steroid cream from the doctor on a spot by spot basis.

DS1 had eczema from birth. We've tried basically every cream there is. He's seen a dermatologist, had prescription creams, etc. Nothing worked for long term like the Vanicream has!

DS gets an eczema patch on his cheeks every now and then. I thought maybe it was the dairy in his formula or the yogurt but he has been on the same formula for months and has been on the same yogurt (Siggi's yogurt) for the past week. His eczema patch started showing up yesterday.
Wondering if I should try a cream when it flares up. Maybe if the cream doesn't work I'll ask for a prescription from the dr.
Does anyone know any eczema creams that are safe for the face?

@bluestriped bee: we use vanicream or Eucerin baby. It could totally be the yogurt. A week is not very long--if hes having it daily, his body may have just been exposed to enough of it that it is now reacting. That is my experience with DD.

My friend's daughter has been battling severe eczema for a few years - it was really bad, like open wounds from scratching that kept getting infected and flaking, peeling skin. She tried everything and saw every pediatric derm in NYC. She finally found a doctor who is based out of S. Africa who treats patients over email and photo consultations and he uses a very simple compound rX that they just won't sell over the counter. For very severe cases, please check him out. After 5 years of hell, her daughter is finally feeling like a normal kid again.
