The cops just came to my house and told me that someone down the street just got broken into! There was a girl And her Uncle at home, the Uncle chased the two men into the woods which are connected to my house. The cops are running dogs and they said they found the scent in our yard!! Ahh! The dummies left their car at the house when they ran into the woods which means they will have to come back. I am so creeped out !!

Wow! That is REALLY scary. I would turn on lots of lights and park your car in the driveway so they see you are home!

Have you asked the cops to stick around or do increased patrol? I doubt they can tow it (how do they know its the burglers?)

@tororojo: I dont know what they will do- we saw all the cop cars there on our way home so I think they wlll wait for them? @T.H.O.U.: We have two cars ln the driveway So hopefully they stay away! My poor dog needs to go out but im scared to let her out lol

When I was younger, my parents borrowed the "Protected by ADP" signs from our neighbor and had color copies made. They pasted them in all our windows even though we didn't have an alarm system. You could think about print something like that to maybe deter them?

Oh how scary! Lock your doors and turn all the lights on, that's what I say.
This happened to my friend a few years ago and the first she knew about it was when the police helicopter lights lit up her garden and shone down on the guy!! He was a car thief who had run away from the police.

Scary. If you hear a knock shout for the person to identify themself. This way good or bad guy will know someone is home and your house is not an easy target.

Okay..heres the crazy update from their neighbor (DH's friend)
The 15 year old girl skipped school and stayed home. She invited her boyfriend and two of his friends over (all boys are 19+). She and her boyfriend got in the shower together but before that she told the other two guys that they could take whatever they wanted so they could pawn it and split the money. She was supposed to be at school so no one would suspect her.
The uncle came home, saw two guys loading all his stuff into their car and chased them into the woods. The girl hid her boyfriend in a closet and said she was in the shower and had no clue what was going on.
Long story short, they caught the two guys who ran, arrested them and the boyfriend they found in the closet and I don't know about her.
How bizarre!

AH so scary!!! I am home alone a TON and this kind of stuff scares me.
I read once to always sleep with your car keys next to you...if you hear an intruder, set off your car alarm!
