I got one once, late at night, about an amber alert.
It scared the hell out of me! I didn't know I could get those notifications on my phone but I'm glad I did.

Yes and I've been in rooms w/ other people and it's scary as heck with a few phone's blasting the alarm all of a sudden!

Only amber alerts and none of those even recently.
I guess I got some for the t storms last week but they were at night, when my phone is on silent.

Amber alerts, yes. I'm glad they do it, I always keep a lookout for the cars or whatever.

I get Amber Alerts pretty regularly. When you're in the midwest and in the middle of everything, it's normal, which is super sad.

I turned them off because the noise is too loud and they're not immediately relevant to me. I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night for an Amber Alert in the next state over. That is what happened the first time it went off. Just send me the message and I will read it when I wake up. If they improve the design and let me control how I receive the information, then I will turn it back on.
I wish the government was run more intelligently.

I get weather alerts every so often. Once I was in target and everyone's phones started going off. It might have been the first time I got one so it was very surreal.

I've received an amber alert and one weather alert - but the weather alert wasn't even that serious.
I also receive emergency notifications from my school.

My kids' school sends out texts, and we got one once about a lock down that scared the poop out of me - I don't think it's the same as what you're describing though because it was a text and not a notification ...

I changed the setting on my phone to vibrate on emergency alerts because they are.SO loud.

I don't even know how to get these. My power is out right now and I wish they would send me info about how long I'll be in the dark!
