DH and I need some suggestions, please.
We are team green and are having a really hard time agreeing on names for LO2. Current favorites are Lucas and Mateo for a boy, and Penelope and Vivien for a girl. LO1's name rhymes with Bedelia.
Our criteria is that the name has to work in both English and Spanish so that neither family has problems with pronunciation and I would prefer it not to be a top 10 name or end with an -a sound.

I needed names that sound good and easily pronounced in English and Spanish too. My boys are named Gabriel and Leonardo - Gabe and Leo. Other boy names I like are Samuel and Christian. Can't help much on the girl names - all the ones I like end in a or likely top 10 - Victoria, Cecilia, Olivia, Isabel. My name is Anabel and would fit the criteria!

@mrs.shinerbock: good luck! It's hard finding good bilingual names that aren't totally butchered in either language.

Ooh, I love Paloma! I love the finalists you have too. Do they just not feel like the one?

@rattles: if I had my way, we would go with Mateo and Vivien, but DH isn't sold on anything I've suggested so far and hasn't contributed anything other that his father's name. (Which is a big fat no from me.)

I was also into Patricia for a long time and Rose. I'm Spanish/columbian and dh is Irish/Italian.

@rosegold: DH is Colombian and his entire family still lives there - thus the need for easy pronunciation in both languages.

@mrs.shinerbock: my sister and her husband are similar to you- he's from a South American country and she's from here, so they needed bilingual names for their children.
One of them is Diego - which I love! Such a fun name. She also loved Mateo when she was pregnant with him, and Gabriel.

My name in real life is Paloma and I grew up in an English speaking area only and I love my name!! So don't let that trip you up if it's your only concern.

I think Paloma is beautiful!!! Our daughter's name works, but might be too simple for your taste: Alba. Mateo is a great name!!!
