Did you use the insert and would you recommend it? DD is 1 month old and weighs 10lbs. Wondering if I should get one!

We have it and used it for the first few months - once my son could hold his head up we switched to a rolled up swaddle blanket under his bum just to lift him up higher, but it was also summer and we were worried about him overheating. I don't think it's necessarily a must have but it was definitely nice to have.

I used to until around 4 months, but I had a small baby. For another month or so I used the little seat cushion that comes with the insert....but you probably could use a rolled up towel or something. At 6 months he was 15 lbs and could splay his legs well so I stopped using anything.

I have a 2 month old and I don't need it, I just use a rolled up blanket!

I used it, and loved it!! DS was a smaller baby, but I used it heavily his first 6 months which happened in the fall/winter months so the thick infant insert kept him nice and warm!

We had one and used it alot in the early months. I think we stopped around 4 or 5 months. LO was a fall baby so I liked that she had an extra layer of warmth around her during the winter. However, it was sort of annoying for me because I am very short and it came up very high (as in, it literally obstructed my view if I didn't fold it down). I was happy when we didn't need it anymore. DH liked it though.

Since it's summer, we're just doing a rolled up blanket. I'm worried about over heating. If it was a cooler month I would probably get the insert.

I used it with both kids (not for very long) and loved it. The only thing I didn't like was that it gets very hot, so you want to make sure your LO is not overdressed in it.

Never used it, just swaddled him in an A&A blanket and it was just fine! Mine started using it right away, around 7 pounds.

@MrsBrewer: @sslm: @Portboston: when you say rolled up blanket, you mean to lift their bum higher right? What about for neck support? DD still has a wobbly head.

Hated it but you really do need it to use the ergo until baby can hold their head up. It's so so hot and is a big part of the reason we decided to get a Lillébaby instead.
