I ordered a Halloween onesie from an etsy seller last week. The seller said that she could do onesies in sizes 0-24 and to specify the size needed. I sent in that I needed a 3-6 month onesie. When the package came in, it was a Carter's 3 month onesie, which is too small. The seller wants me to pay to ship it back for the correct size. I think Tey should since Carter's 3m = 0-3 months. What would you ladies do?

i think its the sellers responsibiltiy since she chose the wrong size, since carters is 0-3 and you wanted 3-6, i would just nicely explain it to her and see waht she says.

Yep, I'd have her either send a new one in the right size, or send you a stamped envelope so you can send that one back! Or, maybe ask for your money back...? You're not responsible for her mistake.

I agree with everyone else. It was her mistake and it is her responsibility to fix it. I would explain that you feel it is her responsibility. If she doesn't make things right, I would contact Etsy.

Agreed that it's her mistake...you might try saying something like "before I leave feedback/decide how to word my feedback, I'd just like to clear up the issue of postage--I really think you should be responsible for it since I specified the size of the onesie when ordering." Feedback is really important to etsy sellers and it gives you good leverage. Negative feedback could hurt her future sales, so I would imagine that she would be careful to make you happy.

Is etsy similar to amazon where it's seller but under a bigger authority?? If she doesn't pay for returns then can you contact etsy to clear it up?

I just wanted to update everyone- She is stilling saying that she will not reimburse me for shipping it back. While its only $4, its the fact that it was her error. I'll wait to see what she does before I leave her feedback, but this is crazy! I love etsy and have never had this problem before.

I use to sell a lot of baby stuff (I sew and do monogramming, so a lot of people would ask me to make or monogram things) and before I had a baby, I had no experience with infant sizing issues. No one ever told me that gerber onesies ran small or butterick patterns ran big-so I'm sure there were a lot of things I made that never got worn! I would also give kudos to anyone selling baby items on etsy-new moms can be some very tough customers...
With that said, if she is willing to re-make something (mind you she is going to be taking a loss on the 3 months size since she won't be able to resell it) and all you have to cover is shipping, I would do it and chalk it up to a learning experience. As consumers, we need to make sure that when we are buying a handmade item, we are as specific as possible. I recently ordered a onesie with my college logo on it and asked for 6 months and I got 6-12 months. I hate that LO can't fit in it (and won't be able to wear it at all this football season) but in the scheme of things its not that big a deal.
